the site is pretty much dead atm (pages aren't loading anymore) - around 5 to six. and i want to download this asap :(

fortunately, it's only a small download - so shouldn't take too long once i can access it!
 
and no email with cd-key in yet either. has anyone got a conf email? worth pointing out i did only pre-order this morning.

edit: i just got into the store and it's saying there is no game available for download yet. (and my order is confirmed so i assume that's all ok?!?)

is the game not actually being released till 7pm current uk time then? stupid timezones/DST.

Due to unprecedented demand on our store web server. Unfortunately this has overloaded the system, so we have temporarily disabled the store.

DEFCON Keys will be emailed to you at 18:00 GMT which is 19:00 BST in London, UK.

We will be re-enabling the store shortly.

nooooooo. i'm really impatient now, i've been unable to achieve anything all day just waiting. well, and watching simpsons episodes from dailyepisodes. i actually wish i wasn't unemployed so i would have had something to focus on all day.

oh, and weird enough - as i was already logged into the store i am still able to view orders etc. so they must have just disabled logging into the store. all rather pointless really - as the game still has an hour-ish before release.
 
To be honest that's a bit short sighted of them - they knew how many pre-orders they had, so they should have forseen the bandwidth it would have consumed. Oh well... I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer.

they did say they had put in place a mechanism so that downloading the game will be fine.

i imagine the problem is that the download servers are seperate from the main website and store - i.e. they are hitting more usage on their website than expected, but once you get through to the download all should be fine!

*crosses fingers*
 
tbh the best thing would be to have sent the CD version out on Weds for delivery today and then the main master server that hosts all of the rankings and other game realted stuff not go live till 18:00 BST
 
tbh - i'm not convinced it will all just *work* at seven. but on the plus side, it should all be good when you get back from your meal! i imagine there will be many people online playing it!!!
