defragging problem?

I've decided after 2 weeks to defrag my new system, as I had a free night to leave it on. However, i've left it on since about 1am and it's now 10am and it's still going!? Is this normal... Or has it messed up somewhere a long the way. (good news is I seem to have a lot more space lol..)

I cancelled it in the end, and the analysed the disks. The results said I do not need to defrag

What I found was you tell Vista to defrag c: and it will ignore you and defrag everything attached to your pc which can take ages.

So what I do now is:

Start > Run > cmd

defrag c: -v -w

(-v = verbose, -w = don't ignore files < 64MB in size)
