It feels like if wholesale prices go up, customers pay more fairly quickly after. If the opposite happens, that lag greatly increases and they start talking about advanced purchasing.

That happens with everything, wholesale prices rise bung it on the consumer immediately, they fall and consumer prices remain the same or drop by a small amountbecause the suppliers buy in advance and of course our politicians allow this to go on.

Of course the system is rigged, we're literally cash cows to the energy providers. They earn billions of pounds in profit, people will do basically what ever it takes to maintain that sort of income and will pay big bonuses to see it increase every year. They know how to manipulate the market to make sure that energy never becomes cheaper even though technology has advanced incredibly.

Totally rigged market which only goes one way. It's about time we had people in charge, who aren't taking backhanders and will sort it out.

I had a message from Bulb (no referrals) that my electric was going up.

An increase to my direct debit of £0.06 per month :D

Whats's your experience with bulb been like and how long have you been with them?

My tariff is up end of the month and they come in cheapest after many many hours of checking available deals.

Only joined up 2 months ago, but it's been smooth so far. That £0.06 rise was because of "a 21% rise in wholesale energy since February" so hopefully have already built in the main price rises we're experiencing

Stop mentioning it then

Thanks for the quick reply. If you don't mind me asking, what is your monthly DD cost that the 6p rise was against?

£58. We use (IIRC) about 4500-5000KWH per year. Can't remember exactly what I estimated when setting up the account. Electric only, as we don't have mains gas.

I lasted a month with Bulb as they could not explain why i needed two meter readers to call in that month, in fact their customer service rep was downright rude. If you look on their Facebook page there are lots of posts extolling the savings of 350/60 70 a month people were saving, I saved 3 quid. Just moved to Avro who are slightly less than Bulb.
