Eastern Front is like its a real addon. You install it, and run it by clicking on the desktop icon etc. This runs the Eastern Front version of the game which lets you do all you did before, but with the Russians as an extra faction.

To run without EF, just simply click on the TOV or vanilla icon.

eastern front, blitzkrieg and joint op mods - simply install and click on new desktop icon to launch moded game - you can still play original game by clicking on regular icon
 
How is the Eastern Front mod now. I tried it when it was released but really did not like it. Has it improved much? I am getting the COH itch again.
 
I know some people mentioned Company of Heroes Online, how does this differ to the retail games?
I'm not sure exactly in-game, although I do know it's free and it uses heroes, haven't had time to download and play it myself, because of other occupations.

It depends on which part you didn't liked. If you didn't liked the whole Russian thing, including the doctrine's and non-doctrinal lay out, I'd say don't. If it's the balancing was the problem that didn't made you like it, I would definitely try to re-download the latest version and give it a go. ;)
