Why is that funny? I had an old copper water tank in my garden and the scrap man didn't steal it. They did knock on and ask if I wanted to get rid of it, to which I said no in weighing it in. If they stole it and be reporting it, it was worth a small fortune for basically rubbish.

It's funny that you think informing the Police over something so petty would have any other outcome than just an absolute waste of your own time. Police solve what, 6% of crime? That's just the crime that's reported to them as well. I dont think some guys roll of 20quid lead is going to be high on their priorty list when they usually go after the low hanging fruit to boost their numbers.

It will cost you more than £60 to fix the roof if you don't pay your friend. But more importantly if he is a true friend surely its worth more than £60?

Ask to go halfs on the cost, and stop worrying over mundane crap.
