Because maestros are faster than the golfs of their era.....
Plus cheap and easy to work on makes it an ideal car to thrash around a track as fixxing one is not so much of a time or cost issue - dad used to be in a team who raced one and my god did it own

interesting toy, what kind of turbos have you go on there? and what kind of inlet manifold?
only asking cause the only car i knew that ran twin su's with a turbo was a metro turbo.

Nice project, though seems like a lot of work to get that power out of the O series. Was there a good reason not to go for a T series conversion?

Thats what James was saying, that twin carbs were never fitted to the Metro Turbo (or ANY A-Series Metro come to that).
