First thoughts, trailer looks very faithful to the book. Nice scenes and colours, but over all what a rubbish trailer, highlighting loads of really boring-nothing-happening bits.

Still looking forward to it though :) Bring on 48p.

Trailer was great really looking forward to this now. Still can't believe that it is over 10 years since fellowship of the ring came out.

It looks OK, but LOTR is so much more suited to a film than the Hobbit and the trailer showed it. It didn't look half as exciting as there is a distinct lack of ominousness and fear that LOTR put across.

I actually much preferred the book of the Hobbit. Couldn't stand the LOTR books.

 Can a mod ban Nitefly please :D

Actually, I do agree with you to some extent about its suitability as a movie - especially a 2 part movie. It's just not an "epic" story, compared to LotR anyway. However, after the brilliance of the LotR movies, I'm going to trust PJ to deliver the goods.

I hope it's good but after rereading the book these films are going to have lots of filler pity they didn't make the fellowship into 2 movies would have made more sense.

I was well impressed by this trailer. The next two years will be great for Boxing Day cinema, just like with LOTR.

I've only ever read The Hobbit once and wasn't all that impressed. I guess I'll have to hunt down my copy and give it another go.

Might have to re-read LotR as well while I'm at it, it's been quite a few years since I went through that.

As for the trailer... well it looked all right, even if the CGI looked a bit plasticy

Very much looking forward to this, it's just a shame that it's still another year away, but i guess they must have a load of post production still to do with cgi.

To think that Fellowship was released way back in 2001. Time does fly..
