I think I am going all out on this one, especially since the london bfi imax refitted their screen and projector this year. If you are going to enjoy this film, do it properly, with a giant **** off screen, and a 'why are my ears bleeding?' sound system.

Exactly. This is the first movie in a while since maybe Avatar, that may change the industry again. I don't just mean on the whole '3D' thing, I mean from the point of view that it may change the industry standard 24fps to 48fps and the general process of making films. I am curious to see how well the digital RED Epic cameras compare and hold up to 35mm film. Could this be the stepping stone to where more movies are shot digitally and feature 48fps? Who knows. I am curious to see the results and where it goes. Most of all, it has the potential to be one of the biggest movies in a long while.

That's pretty much why I have gone all-out for IMAX with this one.

Early reports on 48FPS are that it blew people away. This is great especially for 3D since it's smoother on the eyes and next to no judder.

Bryan Singer already tweeted he had 'high frame-rate envy',so that sounds good. Since Avatar 2,3 and most likely Star Wars will be shot at 48 FPS this may well become the new Industry standard.
24 frames were only ever a compromise anyway,a purely commercial decision that has outstayed it's welcome nigh on 70 years later. Time to move on.

So I can't see this in 3D due to the wife (a huge Hobbit/LotR fan) getting nausea/headaches from it. Will the regular ol' 2D still be 48fps?

Waiting to see which Vue cinemas will be doing this in 3D HFR, hopefully the westfield one either in shepherds bush or stratford will be doing it.

Was thinking I might give this a try but there are no other films out worth seeing this month.. Boo

I booked in advance to see it at the BFI IMAX but now they've announced they will only be showing it in 24fps.
Really disappointed, might cancel and see it somewhere else but then it won't be an IMAX...

What the actual ****? Why is the flagship being a bunch of donkeys. Did they buy the wrong projector or something?

Anybody got a list of confirmed HFR cinemas? Ideally, the biggest screen, with the comfiest seating, with the best sound system. Its looking quite thin on the ground and very selective. Very disappointing show, but not surprising as it just exemplifies how this ailing industry treats its customer.

Just booked my seat for 13/12, 3D HFR. :)

GF didn't fancy it, so I don't have to spend the film explaining the story - can just relax! :D
