Oh come on, you can't be serious; you say I’m naive; you have come across as a serial tinfoil hat wearer.

You will say the media is state controlled next.

I've been all over the world with my job, in all different cultures you have no idea how good we've got it.

well the goverment hires advisors then if the advisors say something the goverment doesnt want to hear they ignore them , if thre advisors carry on they get fired! look at the drugs board...

our goverment is a fake democracy the people dont really have a say and you cant force democracy on the middle east they are not ready for it yet.

i bet most of china would like a democracy , north korea has a nut leader far worse than gaddafi....

We do. You can vote. You can vote for whomever you like. Despite what you think the BNP is not a viable alternative or even one to be taken remotely seriously and when people vote, the results reflect this by them going nowhere.

The main parties that have long established their ability to provide reasonable political and economic stability in peoples lives are quite rightly getting the majority of the votes from people who wish to maintain that. Just because there is no worthwhile opposition being fielded isn't a failing of our democracy.

The electoral system here is designed to maintain the status quo one party system.

Do you not remember the elections? Or are you conveniently ignoring that fact?

An election in which the outcome was inevitable: the LibLabCon one party state would remain in place.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict a LibLabCon landslide in 2015 as well.

So you've abandoned your previous nonsense argument to start one up about proportional representation? Can I counter this by saying my favourite number is 48 then maybe you could come back by saying which planet you believe will be colonized first then I could post a picture of how many tins of beans I currently have in my house etc..

So basically what you're saying is that because you don't agree with the partys standing, we therefore aren't in a democracy?

Well, here's a shocker for you. The majority of people don't share your opinion, and then some of them voted for those parties, and the government got elected, which is what we call democracy. Just because YOU don't share their approval, doesn't mean it's not a democracy, in fact you're just provided a great example of just what a democracy is.

We certainly don't vote for the corporations and the banks who really control the levers of power. Perhaps when their names are on the voting slips we will have democracy. But I digress.

i think what hes trying to say if that if nobody voted at all in the 2015 elections( becuase everyone is sick of sneaky lieing politicians ) sooner or l8er they will show their true colours and somehow form a government even without the peoples consent/votes

Well yes, if the entire country abandons democracy by not voting, someone will have to step in and form some sort of government.

But that means we haven't voted a new government in, so could also be read as we voted the current one out.

Anyways i can now see why DirtyDog thinks the way he does, he might also hide under the staircase and think people are trying to poision his water supply.

but thats not a democratic country then. its shows that having partys is just an illusion for the people.

The key phrase was "if the entire county abandons democracy", then of course it's not, AFTER that event has happened. Up until that point, it's as we are now, a democracy.

Breaking news. BBC just did an emergency news headline saying Libya have broken the ceasefire, and french bomb loaded aircraft are currently over libya. British forces now loading up theirs.
