Dell 2408 on the way

Deceided to keep the 2407 A04, gets delivered tomorrow. Who knows it may take dell to the 4 revision of the 2408 to get it right

Hopefully wrong but regardless long as no ghosting issues... if they wanna make a rev or 2 ill certainly be taking advantage of Dells excellent customer services ;)

I've been informed by a UK supplier, that Dell has started releasing information this afternoon. (i would have posted earlier, but my registration validation took hours!)
The good news is the 2408WFP has a S-IPS panel. (new LG-Philips 24")
It will start shipping in the UK end of Feb, early March.
The price is expected to be similar to the current average 2407WFP-HC price. (around £450 to £499 inc Vat)
No doubt more expensive on the Dell website.
There is a hope heavy discounters will get this sub £400 soon after release.

If this information is correct, the inverse ghosting issue will be erradicated.
(probably replaced with something far worse though!!!)

I will post back if i get anymore info, or anything changes etc...:)

Ps i don't know anymore than i have posted...yet!

Schwing, nice one.

Because I'm bored, and you may be too:

User's Guide

It's really rather earlier than I remember it being a few hours ago. Been waiting for the right time to get a new screen- seems to be the end of the next few months. Huzzah! Need an excuse to get my stuff in one place. =D

Would be really nice if this came out closer to £400 odd, if I sell a few bits and bobs I could maybe nab one sooner rather than later, would look really swish :)

The ghosting people are mentioning probably wouldn't bother me so much given the 2001fp is a 16ms panel and I don't have problem with things like Crysis or CSS and the like.

Yeah knew it would be £499.99, am hoping it arrives late Feb !

Would be interested if it's S-IPS. Hope we don't end up in another panel lottery situation. Can't wait for the first reviews and for people to start getting them.

My 2007wfp is a fine screen but I'd love something with a better contrast ratio (and therefore deeper black). Some games I just can't play on it (anything dark basically) and have to use my Dell P1130 21" CRT. FEAR for example which I've just played through - installed it, tried it on the LCD, switched to the CRT - double the atmosphere and immersion. Would be nice to have a single screen that does it all.

i would be very surprised if it turns out to be an S-IPS panel I'm afraid. Pretty certain it is an updated Samsung S-PVA panel

I'm not 100% sure about that, the Hazro 24" S-IPS is about the same price, but it has different specs (700:1 - same as other S-IPS and different response and gamut), which would suggest that it's a PVA.

Yeah, that's what i meant. The 2408WFP is going to be S-PVA I'm fairly certain of that. There's no way a 1300:1 static contrast ratio is S-IPS, and the 6ms G2G response time suggests it is just an extension of what we had in the 2407WFP and 2407WFP-HC

I can only quote what i have been told...
Hi Paul,

For you information, we are getting an update from Dell that the 2408WFP may
come forward to End of February, Beg March. So it may be best to wait for
this S-IPS model .

I won't say who it was, as i don't want to cause them any trouble with Dell etc.
What i can say is that they are one of the largest independant Dell monitor supplers in the UK.

This doesn't make anything true of course, but i didn't even ask the panel type etc.
