Does anyone know what the latest manufacture dates and revision numbers are? The newest I'd seen previously was Sept A00.
Also for people replacing their copies because of BLB/cross-hatching, do you have to get it replaced by the retailer you bought from because it's not covered under the warranty or can you contact Dell? It seems like most places make you pay shipping to swap them out whereas Dell does it next day for free AFAIK.
the U2713HM is still in revision A00. I have been through 3 samples of this screen now in the recent weeks. All of them were brand new, unopened and un-used (as confirmed by factory menu).
All of them have exhibited a feint buzzing noise in certain circumstances, normally only when viewing a full screen window with a lot of text. After speaking with Dell about it they confirmed it had been identified as a product "feature" and said they also had similar issues with some other models recently. Perhaps some funny electronics. They are aware of it and i have been told that it may well be fixed by the time a rev A01 comes out. I would like to make the point that this is NOT a major issue. i have never seen this buzzing in normal day to day use, you really have to go looking for it and know how to find it.
The so-called cross hatching issue is also very very slight, and is more related to the AG coating from what i can tell. Again all 3 samples have been the same, but again you'd have to go looking for it really to notice it. I suspect you have to be at a very specific distance from the screen for it to be a problem in normal use.
Backlight uniformity has been very good on all 3 samples with no major problems at all. the sample i still have with me is excellent, no backlight bleed at all. From what i've seen this screen seems to be very good in terms of backlight leakage.
The best bet if you have any problems with your screen is to contact Dell. They have been very good in my experience at arranging a swap out. they send you a new model out next day, then collect the old unit the following day. They do state they cant guarantee a new sample and it might be refurbished, but the 3 i've looked at have all been brand new as i suspect it's because the screen is so new and they dont have a refurb stock yet
no cost or postage, they drop one off and collect the next day. excellent support
I've now left it that they will contact me once a rev A01 is available as well so i can test that and establish if the buzzing has been fixed.
