Dell Vostro 1500

Just looked at my Walsh Western order tracking page, the history says it has just been dispatched from WII - Hinckley (the 4th entry on the history section). Does that mean it's on its way to my house right now or will it not be here until tomorrow?

RE deliveries: When mine came, nobody got in touch to tell me it was coming, and I didn't have any choice of morning or evening. When I phoned up WW to ask, the automated message stated that deliveries were between 8 and 6, and it could be anytime.

The WW page with the ETA on it was 100% accurate for me, despite what the checkpoint list said.

That's not fair. Must've gone for a popular spec, or something. I ordered one for my sister on 23rd August, and it still hasn't arrived.

I think Dell've been having supply issues, from what I've read.

I have a contact in Dell i buy my machines from for work and personal use, so he sorts me out with a good price and crucially speeds up all my deliveries.

The machine was non standard spec, upgraded battery, processor, screen and had vista ultimate with it.

Any more overclocking results guys?

I set mine straight into 620/480 after running 3dmark 2001, i got 19050 before, 21200 after. I then chucked on the bioshock drivers, which took me up to 22500ish.

Im just running 06 now with the overclock and the bioshock drivers to see what we get.

I am really delighted with my machine, i got rid of my 1210 on the forums for £650, and while the laptop is obviously not as small as the 1210 was, which had its benefits (as a laptop you could move about, it was supreme), the vostro is cooler and quieter, a lot more powerful, and cost me £20 less than the 1210 i sold.

InwardSinging, could you try something for me?

When you go into the nVidia Control Panel and Adjust the Desktop Colour Settings, do any adjustments you make remain upon rebooting?

I've ramped the brightness down but the setting never remains. Every time I start Vista it simply reverts back to the default setting.

Don#t suppose you could try it on your setup and let me know?

Just ran 3dmark 06, with the overclock and the bioshock drivers and get 3948, which i think is pretty decent, especially for £630! :D

Just tried Guru - it did stick when i reset it.

Right, gone back to the 101.43 drivers that Dell provide and finally colour adjustments made in the nVidia Control Panel stick.

InwardSinging, try un-installing the drivers from Add/Remove Programs, re-boot into Safe Mode and run one of the driver cleaners. Then, try installing the Dell drivers, removing it and then re-installing the Bioshock Drivers.

Bit long winded but it might work.

I can live without digital vibrance, i dont want to start mucking about too much in case i end up with problems like you have with yours

Will stick with these 101.43 for now as they apply the colour correction settings I make on start-up. Got no desire to game at the moment so these will be fine.

Just strange how all my colour correction sliders work but won't apply on startup. Yet yours apply on startup but you can't adjust the DV slider.

It came!!!!! 6:25pm when it was an AM delivery..... very pleased so far though, no probs with the screen (gloss) and no noise from the cpu yet..:) however the partitions left only 85gb...
