So... I ordered a B8 shock from this company and they advertised it as having "fitment marks".

Upon clarification they informed me that they came off a car of which they were fitted too but never driven on....

Ok Great 1/2 price bargain i thought.

It arrives and they have only gone and sent a B6 with fitment marks...

I was stuck, car was on stands, old shock dead and in bin so i had to fit it and be happy with it (after all a B6 and B8 have same valving and only the B8 has a shorter piston for 30+mm lowering springs).

I then find that the B6 rebound is TERRIBLE, absolute shocking (pardon the pun).. The B8 on the left is solid, the B6 is bouncy as ****.

I call them to inform them of their mistake and also that when fitted its actually shot... they inform me that because i have driven (around the block) its now classed as driven on and used and their return policy excludes that.

They seem to ignore the fact it was already 'used for a moment to test' and sold with 'minor fitment marks' hence already driven on and having fitment marks and are adamant it has to be sent to bilstein for testing and repair / replacement. I must also mention that these 'fitment marks' actually look like extensive use marks to me and the fact its so bouncy leads me to conclude its have been used extensivly.

Seriously? What are these people on?

The shock absorber is not fit for its job, its been miss sold and is useless.

I ended up buying a new B8 from them anyway as they offered a £40 discount over other retailers.

Im just shocked they are trying to tell me i cant have a refund because its been used when it was already used in the first place! Oh and they sent the wrong one -.-

/Rant over

If I was you, I would have rung them up and informed them that they sent the wrong part and you didn't realise until after fitting.

They can't argue that you're in the wrong given it was the wrong part sent.

The issue arises given you admitted to noticing they were wrong and proceeded to try them anyway.

Telling them that wouldn't help me would it?
Car had to be fixed today as i am going to work later.
I had already pre paid the mobile mech his labour and had to use it today.

Bilstein confirmed that the B6 can be used along side a B8 as my springs were a good fit with them and they had the same dampning force and valving.

So i wouldnt have to call them and return it if they hadnt sent out a unit that was not 1. Not as described and 2. shot.

I have just found out that the box it arrived in was actually for a B8, from 2014. And the Date code on the B6 is actually 2011!

If it's forked then it's forked. Just inform them that it's broken and you'd like a refund thank you please.

You really need to just give up and get taxis or something. I don't think this whole car ownership thing is going well.

Just called them to inform them of the fact it came in a B8 box, and infact is a 5 year old B6.
Looks to me like someone sent them some B6's back as "barely fitted" B8's a couple of years ago and conned them.

They wont accept my word on its "shot nature" until the suppliers write a report on it.. :/

That's fair enough I wouldn't expect them to just take your word on it but if it is indeed broken then it's not really an issue as you've already got another on the way anyway.

That's a bit harsh, although I'm sure an MPS wouldn't have had most of these "issues" :)

Honestly it's just bizarre, it's a catalogue of disasters and random decisions. How can one person have this much bad luck?

Its because i have a sort of OCD... i make decisions based on poorly thought out idea's.

Its a problem, i admit it... But i enjoy myself along the way!

I have had bad problems with this company sending the wrong things and what happened at the weekend was the final straw for me.

Drove up there from Stafford on Saturday after checking the wheels I was after were in stock, which they were on the site showing 'In Stock'. Got there and asked for the wheels, only to be told 'In Stock' doesn't actually mean in stock......What? Just lost out on an £800 order and the rest of my custom. Was pretty irritated to say the least. At least the guy on the desk was very apologetic.

Ah yes, the B8's show as in stock for me. Yet they had to order direct from Bilstien -.-

To be fair online stock systems aren't infallible by any means and if I was going to make that journey I'd probably phone them to double check they were physically on the premises as in stock can quite as easily mean their suppliers have them and they'll despatch straight to you.

This was explained to me when I was there, apparently loads of people have done exactly what I did. The IT people there apparently wont change anything, all it needs is a little disclaimer underneath 'In Stock' explaining.

You shouldn't have even told them you fitted it and just sent it back as the wrong part. It already had "fitment marks", so how would they even know? :)

How does OCD in any form lead to what is fast becoming a total joke of a catalogue of random problems one car to the next to the next. After this many issues i honestly would seriously consider going to a warranted new car which you just drive and stay well away from the mechanical elements.
