Denon AH-D2000

I'm an AT enthusiast and am considering investing in a pair of W5000s. I own a pristine set of Audio Technica W1000s complete with packaging and a recent receipt from Japan that I'd sell for £160.00 plus postage if I go ahead with the deal for the W5000s.

These are magnificent 'phones that I'd be happy to keep were I not so keen on getting their big brothers. See this review...

Oooh. Depending on how much I could flog my A900s for I'd be dead tempted by those!

My W1000s are now definitely up for sale now. I've advertised them on an audiophile site and at this price they are unlikely to remain unsold for very long.

Are these sold yet? I might be interested?

Well the Denon's came, and I just found the bass to over empowering, the trebles not as noticeable, and they're not as comfortable as the AT's which have a very different headband thing going on.

As it's not my cup of tea I'm going to stick these on ebay or the MM and sell them.

Very much more so I found.

Until I got these I felt that bass was lacking in the ATH A900's, I then started to compare songs which I know well and felt that the overpowering bass of the Denons almost meant the trebles were left out. The AT's might be lighter in the bass department, but the detail's all there and after a week or so, it's just a lot more refined.

The AT's (as mentioned) are much more comfortable as well.

Thanks. I've been looking into moving up a step from my current A900s but it's looking to me like I might just stay with AT stuff and go to W1000s or the like...

No problems, I'm quite disappointed to be honest. Denon's other Hi-Fi stuff has been overpriced and I guess it spread to their headphones too. They've not been making headphones for long, I guess it counted against them here.

They may be available. I have a couple of people interested but so far uncommitted and I've promised to give one guy a couple of days. I should say that the price of £160.00 plus postage costs is not negotiable. This is a very good price for an excellent set of cans that I'd be happy to keep.

Re. your Denons, are you sure that you've given them enough burn in time to judge them? I know nothing about them but some people swear by them. I find the bass on my HD650s too prominent for some music and generally prefer the W1000s as I find them more musical and the bass more refined.

Sorry I can't be more definite about my W1000s but if your interested in them at the above price let me know.

That'd be fantastic mate - shall I email your trust address then?

Sorry, the guy I mentioned came back to me and has bought them. The W1000s are terrific and from pricejapan the price is around £217.00 inclusive. I paid no tax or custom duty. I know a number of people who've got them from Japan who've bought at this price with delivery in four to five days. I'm now looking forward to getting my W5000s and that will be it. No more headphones this year.

Cheers,
