Denuvo, cracked within a day... again!

Here is a tip anyway - don't get so angry over someones actions that have zero effect on your life.
Is this thread not about DRM effecting people even though it does not prevent piracy & that games would be cheaper if they did not need to do it? seems I'd be effected by that like everyone on this forum!

Really, £50 retail price plus a other £40 for the season pass isn't extortionate for a triple AAA title on top that it's sequel comes out the next year as well?

If you think it's too expensive, then you shouldn't be buying it. There's certainly no real reason why you should HAVE to buy the season pass. If it is indeed a case of HAVING to buy it, then the game isn't worth playing in the first place imo.

It's all about value perception at the end of the day. If you really care principally about 'value', then you should NEVER pre order and ALWAYS check out pre release content and reviews prior to your purchase, then weigh that up against whether the factors that make a 'good' game for you have been fulfilled.

Personally, I just don't bother with as many games today as I did 3-4 years ago. There's so many smarmy, consumer unfriendly practices going on these days that my boycott list discludes very few major AAA publishers.

Pirating a product because you disagree with it's pricing model or the general practices of it's creators is just selfish. I don't mean that in a spiteful way, but it literally is. It likely promotes more negative change then it does positive. Unless you honestly don't care, then you're just a tight arse xD

I was reading about this on reddit as news of it appeared on /all. Apparently the cracked version is 'better' storage space wise than the retail as it allows you to select what stuff you want to install ie langauges etc. You end up saving HD space as a result.

Yeah, that's nothing new. Been happening even since the "Ripped" days. Still crazy that the cracked version turns out to be better.

Publishers know Denuvo does not stop piracy; it simply buys them time:

Marketing speel imo, for every post of this nature you'll probably have several saying they would not buy it due to DRM (Denuvo).

The truth is I buy most of the games I play these days, I just don't play as often as I used to. The games I do play tend to have more longevity, games like EU4, Stellaris etc.

Biggest problem isn't piracy imo for games, it's just pure quality on release that needs work. Sometimes you buy a game at launch and it's perfectly playable, and you think the people worked hard at it. Other times the game is just a buggy mess, and sometimes the DRM (which pirates don't have to worry about) itself can stop the game working properly.

Piracy is wrong but also most recent games with all content (DLC & whatever other stealth methods they want to include like paid loot crates & or paid upgrades which save you time) cost around £70-80 some are a lot more. Most do not offer Demos anymore so there is still an argument that piracy is a by product of Publisher arrogance!

Ooo I see You linked it also.

Its all about pumping money for WAR ON PIRACY. Where developers see **** all of those money and all goes to rich money grabbing ******** at top !!

You remember this ??

I pirate games I also buy GOOD games. Like Gotten Forza 7 deluxe week ago sadly digital cause no hard copy possible :( getting Destiny 2 boxed. And ofc all games Ill play multiplayer.

If something can be developed then it can be reverse engineered. It's a simple as that.

I agree with the EU link above - the fact that they shelved the report because it didn't say what they wanted it to say shows how corrupt the media / EU / are. They see a pirated version as a sale lost when it's simply not the case.

It's why I like to buy of GOG - no DRM and you can see by The Witcher 3 sales, for example, that a good game, without DRM, will sell. It doesn't mean it's going to get pirated more. I will personally buy a game on merit. If it's a good, engrossing game, then I'll buy it. If I feel I'm being taken for a ride (i.e. in the old days you had to install archaic talk-back DRM, have the DVD in the drive, etc.) then I won't bother. I even detest to DLC or, as I call it, content that should have been in the game from the start. There are very rare occasions when t does make the game better but that's few and far between.

I don't know why publishers bother with DRM - they could spend the money on the Developers tweaking the game, fixing bugs, 4K textures, etc.

It's this. If I was buying the full game plus support for 12months for retail price that would be fine. These days your buying the 'base' game with no season pass or dlc for £40 and the expected to pony up for the extras, which were obviously in development along side the actual game and drip fed to you for the season pass for the extra £££. Not to mention your game will have some sort of gambling loot box 'micro transaction' included as well.

I remember when you bought a game and actually got a full game for the money you paid. Not some 'base' experience. I have no problem paying for proper expansions but these days its pay once for a few months and if you don't pay up again your game is gimped to the point of not worth playing :/

I teach in a secondary school - the stories I hear about the amount kids are paying to 'play' the latest fifa game just to get players is crazy. Just because the developer has made it pay to play if you want to be competitive...

As I predicted a year ago in the last Denuvo thread, it's gone from "impossible to crack" to crackers understanding the system and no doubt developing tools to automate the crack as much as possible and allow day-0 cracks every time. Denuvo may have provided the requisite delay when it was a new system, but now that approach is closed off as the crackers understand it well.

Denuvo may be dead in the water now, as Bethseda pulled Denuvo from "The Evil Within 2" a couple of days before release. The press review copies were Denuvo protected, and then the release had it removed.
