Deos power (lack) affect system performance?

Thats a long way out mate

Should be pulling close to 10k

That CPU score should be more like 2500 as well

As a guide when i had an 8800GS ( slower than an 8800GT ) with an E6750 @ stock 2.66Ghz i got over 9000 in 3dm06

Actually looking at my notes i keep, a single 7900GTX 512Mb and my old A64 4200+ X2 got just under 7k

It is possible that the PSU could be restricting performance,

Wrong!

A PSU will not effect performance!
It's either capable of supplying enough current = stable PC
or it's incapable of supplying enough current = volt drop resulting in unstable PC ie randam crash's when the PC draws more current than the PSU can supply

Actually its you thats wrong!

An nvidia card will automatically throttle itself if it is not recieving enough power to allow the system to remain stable

See, modern day PSU are better designed & more (power) efficient.

My 4 year old Nexus 4090 (400W) PSU is rated 73-78% efficient depending on power draw! Decent efficiency PSUs have been around for ages, companys just use it for marketting nowadays ;)

Current PSUs are 80 Plus (an industry standard/program to) :)

IMO in 4-years new standards, specs, features, etc come out which means better performance & design. PSU efficiency is about how it draws power to run your system. Overtime & usage the internal components quality goes down resulting in poor efficiency, fact!

With modern PSUs being 80%+ that's a lot better than that one :) Also even average low-quality PSUs are generally better today.
