Derek Chauvin murder trial (Police officer who arrested George Floyd)

Can't believe there are still people in this thread arguing that George Floyd was a victim of racism. When a white person is killed (see Tony Timpa) no one cares, but when a black person is killed in the same way people start crying racism and rioting despite all evidence to the contrary.

It looks like the prosecution fell apart this week.

Got to fit with the media narrative i'm afraid

Don't forget that we need to break down the systemic/endemic racism that pervades every cornerstone of society and culture in our drive for equality

Not sure where they are/what they look like but take a knee anyway!

They were not convictions they were complaints vastly different things.

17 complaints in a 20 year career, of which only 2 resulted in disciplinary action.

So less than one complaint a year for a police officer. Not bad going. I'm on my 7th complaint this year at work (no fault on my part)

But as others have said. Doesn't fit the narrative.

Anyone working in the public sector and dealing with the public probably has a list of complaints about them lol

Any Karen who doesn't like being told no will complain. But the managers always have to follow it up and "do something".

I can imagine a police officer regardless of country, gets plenty of false positive complaints. People who are just ticked off that they got busted etc.

They do. Friend of mine is dog handler and has had many complaints filed against him because his landshark, who is a real softy really, has bitten the scrote he was chasing. I don't remember all the exact details, but he had one particular individual try to sue him because he lost a trainer during the chase and the dog ruined his trackie bottoms.

BLM is racial animosity disguised as equality, and egged-on by the media and corporations. Everyone knows this, but no-one can say it because of their name. It’s the same trick with AntiFa – you point at the deeds and they point at the name.

America is so messed up, it must be a terrifying experience to be stopped by the police.

No rear plate and potentially illegal tints, so it was a lawful stop. Police over there really don't like dark tints because they can't see if someone is pointing a gun at them inside. Whilst the police did fail to de-escalate and I don't condone everything they did, if an officer tells you to get out of the car you have to (Pennsylvania v. Mimms). Sitting there arguing with the police is likely going to escalate things, which is what happened. It doesn't look good when an army officer can't follow lawful orders.

Gotta say, on all the occasions I was pulled over by a Police Officer in the States (Louisiana, California and Texas) I was told to:
  • Wind down the window
  • Put both hands on the steering wheel
  • Look straight ahead
  • Do NOT attempt to leave the vehical
I obeyed and by and by, on every occasion the Officers were polite (but confused by the Limey) ;)

On one occasion, I noticed the Officer release his sidearm as he approached the (hire) car - worrying

00:41 "but a temporary [number plate] is visible".

Is it? Presumably number plates are required to be illuminated in the US or sufficiently visible (Wikipedia indicates yes). I'd very much argue that is not "visible" :p

Can't blame him for being scared though considering the perceptions at play.

Most of it, IMO, isn't a racist thing, but the idea that both parties think the other might start shooting at any second. That video of the police officer getting shot linked above is absolutely horrifying, and the thought that it could happen must be in their minds every time they pull someone over.

Exactly, granted if they all calmed down it would have gone miles better, but you gotta think the army guy is literally thinking, the second my hand goes down to unlock the door or undo my belt theyre gonna open up.

I actually believe he did the right thing, kept his hands completely visible at all times even if the cops over reacted. And now hes gonna get a lovely payday from it so double bonus for him.
