Derren Brown - The System

or the pyramid went up another level and we did'nt see the other five losers, but that's just the same as placing six 4k bets, if i had to bet heh i reckon he just placed six bets gave her the form with her horse on it, then when the other winner came in he just slipped her form with the real winner on it, cost C4 20k for a good garunteed ending.

was just thinking that, he just bought a ticket for each horse and gave (swapped)the ticket for the winning ticket

that way they even had a chance of not needing to swap tickets as there was always as 1/6 chance of getting it right, kinda shows how winning streaks really work too :)

im sure they didnt hand pick the 7000 odd people they needed to start the show with.

Well if they asked a lot of people to fill in a questionnaire to take part in the show and then picked those who selected certain responses which indicated they would be suitable then that would give them a fair chance along with his manipulative skills, i think is more than enough. Especially since she's unlikely to have been on tv before so when he said they needed to hurry and go watch the race, she's not going to have thought to check it there and then, but instead go and see the race. I'm sure there was something similar done for another show where they had questionnaires to thin out the applicants to the most suggestible ones.

How did he do the bit with the journalists then?

Well he suggests things to people so they do what he wants without realizing. I'm sure that when he was telling them to go for someone random he could have manipulated their choices to go for people with the same initials. After all, suggesting things to people and manipulating them is what he does best.

Does nobody else remember whn it was on Channel 4 and they were playing russian roulette with blanks? At the end everything just froze and nothing happened for ages, then it ended.. haha

Don't know what was wrong with your TV then mate, because when I watched it he correctly picked the 'live chamber'.

i doubt they refunded anyone elses money, they will have signed a form saying "i agree its my money im gambling c4 accept no responsibility yada yada"

i loved the show, was well intrigued at first, was ready to bet on some horses, got it straight after he did the penny thing though, ruined! lol i wanted to win moniez :p

if they'd done that, I doubt they'd be allowed to say at the end of the show that they did offer to refund any money lost.

remember watching that one as well, when there were 2 chambers left he shot one then quickly shot the other at the wall. Can remember watching a live show somewhere as well...the way he can manipulate you into doing soemthing youo dont want to do is scary

I remember him giving someone an object and told them to hold it tight in their hand. A few minutes of chat later, he told them to open their hand and give the object back. To their amazment, they couldn't open their hand. I remember it really annoying someone as well that they couldn't even open their own hand.

Amazing.

I understand the odds with getting 10 heads in a row, and he explained it nicely with the coin, but do you REALLY think he stood there for 9hrs flipping a coin just for the show lol.

Why not?

As he was doing that coin flip the first time the whole thing clicked for me. Just realised if he did it for long enough he would get 10 in a row, ie if he used this theory on horses with many many people he would get eventually get 10 in a row.

I remember him doing a show in a boxing gym, where there was a skinny little lass in the middle, and loads of big butch men around the outside. Their challenge was to lift the women off the floor. The biggest guy there really struggled and managed maybe an inch off the floor. They were obviously really going for it as there were bruises left under her arms after it. Before they picked her up he got them in some state of mind and kept telling them to 'wait'. Wether that has any link with 'weight' i'll never know :p

So err, did C4 place 4k bets on 4 horses and let her put 4k on the other to guarantee a win, or did they take a risk and if she had lost then refunded her or just walked away?
