Can't put my finger on it, but I'm pretty sure I've seen that somewhere before (but not with OcUK), and not that it particularly matters.

Katie - No it depends on the client entirely. Some clients prefer to be hand-held through the entire process and updated after every developmental stage.
Others just want to see an end result... My point was that sometimes you can convince any client into going with your preferred logo by presenting it with lots of un-necessary things. Things they wouldnt have thought of (like loaves of bread lol). But in my work, design rates are charged by the hour (unless its a pre-paid brief) and unnecessary design doesnt happen often. Unfortunately! :( lol

gads - yes it's a standard template I use for stark contrast testing/glow effects etc - think it was originally a tutorial from a magazine/site etc...

Everyone - as I mentioned with my original posts, this has become a bit of a distraction! The original reason I was browsing OC this week was to try and spec a rebuild (but got a bit stuck - would appreciate if anyone can help:

nimz - ah, that'll be it - certainly wouldn't for hourly work! Get it out the door I'd say! No haven't done that in some time - all of ours is flat rate corporate & Small-Medium Enterprise stuff, so it's very much about exploring every avenue with the clients and making sure their branding won't hit a roadblock along the way (eg powergen's powergenitalia being one of the more famous examples! ;) ) Would be great to chat after the compo - need to set up a thread about general branding etc!

Katie - Yeah obviously we cater for such contracts also - But with a more specific goal. You see even though we cater for rebranding, web, corporate ID etc, our design is primarily for PRINT. Anything in print. Tesco would be a good example. The design for corporate books, manual, magazines, shopping brochures etc.
They wont be charged hourly. ;)
PLus theres a whole host of technical issues that co-exist with design & print that neither you or I want to discuss on our saturday evening! LOL :D

Heofz - heh, just trying to keep it civil - guess I could square up, throw a beer glass and mash some skulls? ;)

Right I'm getting distracted by forum chat - need to finish these kitchen units, high gloss finish is harder to do than I thought...

Perhaps those using the "speedo" style maybe having the established date and the current date at the min and max of the dial might be a cool addition?

Hi guys, saw this and i really jumped at it. Just buying parts for my very first build and this would really help me out :P Seeing as there is no limit on number of pictures posted i went a little wild. Im a biosciences undergrad and i self taught myself photoshop 3 years ago. So, here goes!

I really liked nirvana's logo and i didn't want to copy it so i tried to make everything different. These logos can come in any colour and are all scaleable apart from a few which i made of a laugh.

These two are 2D union jack themed ones:

They come in pretty much any combination...

Moving on to the 3D versions now.

These next two are more party pieces i made when i was bored and the metallic one is non-scaleable.

This is an example of what it would like if it was printed as a basic letter head

Ok, now on to the less angular logos,

OCUKpoweron.jpg

OCUKblue.jpg

This one comes in a glassy effect but can be solid too if needed. Its an OC with a UK at right angles, in theory....

Used in context

This one i didn't really develop much but i liked it quite a bit :)

RAF logo :)

and finally some simple vector ones i made in two tone, nice and clean.

Blue backgrounds are obviously just to provide a background and all are scaleable vectors apart from the metallic one. Also colours are interchangeable with almost anything. Might be adding some more laters...

Doesn't look as good on the white bg because the white of the flag gets lost and looks terrible with a border around it :(
