Is that taller lamp and LED one? How do you rate it?

I've been looking for a desk lamp but most are spot lamps. I want it to illuminate the general desk area...

This is my somewhat (not very thought about) setup, my Antec 900 case which after seeing some of the nice modded cases on here im really starting to dislike it lol. Everythings at the end of my bed so I get to lie down when playing my games and such :P

My rig in the dark, which looks a lot better :)

Update to my desk, I've now rearranged my hifi speakers and hooked up my hifi to the pc. So the case has now gone under the desk to clear the way for the speakers and access to the hifi. Originally I was going to buy a 2.1 system, but there was no point. Thunderous sound now. :)

Can you straighten up your vinyl please

Hate to see it warp ;)

Galant, £93, 120cm x 80cm and adjustable leg height which is a massive bonus as you can get the perfect seating height.
It comes in different sizes and colours. Mine is the birch veneer, it's the lightest of the wood tones.
Awesome desk, incredibly solid, and better built than the Jonas which I almost got ;)

It's so frustrating that Ikea don't do the Vika Amon table top in size 150 x 60  but they do 120x60, 150x175 or 200x60  I don't need such a wide desk for just keyboard and mouse.

See, without looking at either, I would have thought the Jonas was the better built.

I know what you mean. However, the salesman in ikea told me that the jonas is not as well built because it's made of paper filled particle board, and he said the galant was more solid and professional, used in offices. He seems to be right. As I looked around the jonas, I could see where things were slightly peeling away at edges, bit tacky. Then downstairs in the area they sell damaged goods, there was a jonas with a gaping hole in it. Looking into that hole I could see how weak that wood is and my lasting impression is that it's a bit cheaply made, but looks great. Go and sit at both desks, inspect them both very closely and feel the difference in quality. Also, you might prefer the extra depth of the galant, 80cm, compared to about 65cm of the jonas, although the pull out bit of the jonas is handy and adds some depth. Don't get me wrong, jonas is still good, I just didn't like it being filled with paper.
But the jonas does a 140 and a 151cm length desk which is nice. For me, the adjustable legs of the galant swung it the most.

Good amount of lighting you have there Merlin5 :p

Don't know if you mean there's too much or too little :o :p

Is that a VIKA AMON/ VIKA MOLIDEN desk?

Thinking of getting one to replace my ageing argos desk, along with a
HEMNES Chest of 3 drawers - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90159571

What is the quality like? Is the finish on the top decent?

I used to work at Ikea and I've seen all the desks and how durable they are and such things. That desks is adequate for a monitor / speakers / usual desk items. Be careful with a heavy case and never sit on it or use it to put your weight on, it wont break or snap but if its quite heavy it may cause it to bend and thus crack somewhat weakening it.
