*** Desk and Room Gallery***

Just about finished my current setup. Think ill end up putting the case under the desk though as im getting some weird HDD resonating noises.<snip>

You want to suspend your HDDs in the rack with elastic bands or shock cord - I was going to use shock cord in my HAF, but the HDD rack barely has any clearance either side of the HDDs so I used a couple of strong elastic bands per HDD...

Result: No vibration resonating through my desk - always a good thing :)

Teheh that told me!!
:D

Did you have to use a box to convert it to DVI or Mini Display Port to DVI adaptor?

Basically the graphics card in Semtax's PC has a mini display port on back as well as DVI. I believe ATI are trying to get the whole mini display port thing started on certain cards to see if there is a market for it. :)

So all he needed was a mini display port to mini display port cable (which are available but not made by apple). ;)

EDIT: Scratch that I just noticed he had nvidia so he has these three (well...six seeing as he has gone SLI) - Dual dual-link DVI-I, HDMI, DisplayPort.

So it will be Mini displayport to displayport.

Keep an eye on the elastic bands as they might weaken, stretch and even snap over time under the weight and, especially, heat. They do dry out and become a bit bristle.

I used elastic the first time and it eventually buckled. I then bought some Stretch Magic (used for making jewellery) but it's difficult to get the lengths right. Finally I got some proper bungee chord and used some clips to fix the chord to the HDD and it works a treat :)

Yeah, been wondering if they'll die on me lol

I did buy some shock cord to do it with, but in my retardedness I bought 8mm stuff not 2mm lol - WAY too thick for the job!!

(Incidentally, if anyone wants 2m of 8mm shock cord drop me a message in trust :))

It's called the 10 foot HUD or something similar.

Wish I had £1 for every time it gets asked on this forum!

Also a massive improvement on the old uni set up with just a laptop...

Semtax, amazing setup. I really love that case. Everything looks so clean, what's the front device you've got on there?

Thanks .temp :). The only thing i have in the front is just a Samsung Blu Ray drive. Ive painted the back of it black though which you can kind of see in the other "new case gallery" thread.

@King Damager. How are you finding your new R.A.T?

My first proper build :)
(by the way the second monitor and the xbox aren't set up yet, waiting for a HDMI cable for the xbox and I just haven't set up the second monitor).
