I call it my Man Cave 2.0... It is very important that it is referred to as 2.0 because 1.0 had a 42"TV instead of the left monitor. just felt like using my other monitor i had stashed in the wardrobe which i bought as a pair for uni, before I quit :D (ps they 21 inch monitors but look a lot smaller on the desk)

If that's not dust then that's the most amazing coincidence of unfortunately placed camera lens dirt I've ever seen. It looks fuzz-farm! :p You have plastic still on the speakers though so unless that's what's on the monitor stands? But that doesn't explain behind the keyboard!

That put me in mind of the perfectly square bit of dirt on the window in that most excellent episode of Father Ted.

Is there a secret competition going on for dustiest desk? :)

Very excited, should be picking up my new Humanscale Freedom chair tomorrow. Sick of crappy office chairs getting uncomfortable after a few hours. I work at my computer for long hours, so I need it to be right. Used plenty of Aerons at places I work but to be honest they're very form over function for the price now. They hold their value like Mac products! Will post pictures :)
 
I suffer from chronic back pains too and in my work I have an Ikea MARKUS chair (£115 jobby). Oddly enough, I discovered something unusual that works for me... I used to sit upright because it's supposed to be better ergonomically but I worked out that if I slouch a little, stretch my legs out fully, and I'm not sitting in an awful chair I don't get back pains :)

I can't do it at home though because I can't stretch my legs out far enough without hitting the wall, and since I just got StarCraft 2 I'm in a chair practically all day long :o

Let me know how you get on with this new chair. How much did it set you back, if you don't mind my asking?

Just got it back now. Unfortunately I've not had the luxury of being able to take one home and try it for a week like you really should do, but I have a good benchmark with the Aeron so I know a minimum level of comfort and support that I should expect (And it's really popular so useful for comparison). It really does feel completely different to a standard office chair. You don't sit in it and feel this lovely comfortable sinking feeling like with some large executive chairs, it's quite firm. You do however feel upright, very well supported (especially around the lower back, the lumbar support is excellent), and most importantly you feel like working. The gelled armrests are very comfortable and well positioned, and they can be adjusted easily out of the way if I want to get right under my desk. Typing now I have them in the highest position and they're nicely supporting my elbows whilst my desk supports my wrist (Realistically my desk is a bit too high, it could do with being an inch or two lower).

The headrest only comes into effect when I recline as it comes forward to keep my eye line straight at my screen. To be honest though, I don't really recline much when working. I'm a very upright and forward sort of person! I don't think I would miss not having the headrest (They do a version without it that's cheaper).

The lack of adjustments is refreshing. Although it seems like a lot to set up at first, once you've got the height set all the reclining takes care of itself. And having both me, the missus (lighter) and a friend (heavier) all give it a whirl, the auto adjustment seems to work a treat.

All in all if you're after a serious task chair I would certainly recommend it. It cost me about the same as a fully specced Aeron but it's a better chair IMO. The Aeron is great if you want something for slouching in but ergonomically it doesn't feel as good as this (I'm 6ft, average build). The construction quality on this is higher than an Aeron too, without a shadow of a doubt. I've got some work to do now so I'l perhaps give a mini report back in a few hours to see if anything's changed!
