A little 24 and 27 inch action on my new desk

That will definitely hold. I have a 160 x 80 and at one point, I had three monitors and two desktops on it. One being a XPS 630i which was heavy as...

Hyburnates suggestion is a good one, especially when it gives you extra storage. It would definitely be fine without it though. The legs themselves should support it easily.

Work to be done on this one. It's a decent sized room (long but narrow) and my setup doesn't really do it justice:

My plans are as follows:

  • Ditch the glass desk (nightmare to keep looking clean) in favour of an oak kitchen worktop (2m x 0.7m or so), which I will screw to battens attached to the stud. Probably have a chrome leg in the near corner.
  • Ditch the ancient 5.1s in favour of a couple of quality bookshelf speakers.
  • Sort out the cabling by using holes with cable grommets in the desk and cable trunking / caddies under the desk.
  • Get a draw unit from IKEA or something.
  • 27" IPS monitor
  • Replace hideous curtains left by previous owners
  • Wireless mouse and keyboard, probably Logitech MX / K800
