*** Desk and Room Gallery***

Not as neat as some of the setups here still got some cable tidying to do. Also having a office/play room is not the ideal situation but will have to do for now

Not quite finished yet but slowly getting there.
This room just had the sofa against that backwall and a larger TV table against the wall where I was standing taking the photo. It felt pretty cramped and the girlfriend suggested I do a revamp.

Pulled up the carpets and ran CAT5E cable under the floorboards then went from there. It feels much bigger even though I now have a desk and PC in there.

Got my setup working quite nicely for streaming and capturing console footage (For editing and uploading to YT).

Just need to find a (cheap) way to mount an old Android phone for DroidCam (OBS webcam) and then focus on lighting but that can come in the future.

Also moved back to the trusty Noctua NH-D14 on the 3950X (I also switched out the Corsair ML120's with Noctua fans). The H100x I was using is absolutely fine but I wanted the machine to be as silent as possible. Now it just hums nicely even when rendering out video in Resolve and is practically silent in normal desktop use (document editing, web browsing etc).

Just finished putting together my new setup after i decided to get rid of my old worn out desk.

@dannywaugh1 what depth is that desktop? Is it wood?

I'm looking at building my own desk, roughly inspired by this dude: https://imgur.com/a/homj864
I don't have his equipment or skillset, but I'm aiming for a final version similar to this Ikea dining table, but without the gap up the middle, and I want to close up the left side and put a board across the back to hide messy wires.

I have a hefty 34 UW Alienware, and an XL mouse matt that I lose, so I need 80cm depth. My current desk is 150cm wide, which feels about right.

For the top, I can't decide between wood veneered MDF at a cost of approx £100, or real wood worktop for about £220. My main concern with MDF is that it will sag over 150cm... I've already discounted on supplier that can only offer 19mm thick veneered MDF... I need to follow up with another that I think offers 25 and 30mm.

Any advice on how to proceed? Is veneered MDF likely to fail badly?

@Stu It is this desk top https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/gerton-table-top-beech-50106773/ 150 x 75cm comes plain so you will need to sand it smooth and put on a finish which did not take long, I finished with Danish Oil and do plan on getting a Samsung G9 eventually, I can sit on it and I'm about 17st of winter insulation :P

It is a bargain for £75 and some Danish Oil was only £8 I used a cheap orbital sander spent 2 hours sanding smooth then wiped all the dust away with some tack cloths and applied the oil. I did leave each coat of oil to dry before applying another, in total there are 5 coats.

Picture of the finish in better light
