Desk

It can, as I am using one. :)

I use those exact ones.

2 metres long desk has the Vika Alex drawers to one side, with a second table 1m long att 90 degrees to the first with the Vika Alex cupboard under the right hand side. I have the top off this one on the 1m desk (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S59873651/#/S39873652) doesn't say you can buy it seperate on the IKEA site but you could in store.

Ive had mine for at least a year, have 3 monitors on 2 arms (dual and single arm) bolted to the rear and use it daily for my home office. I have a Boogie Bug XL mat covering most of it. No wear, just tea stains which I CBA to wipe off :D

Hmm I rather like the look of that myself.

Obviously not in black though same colour as the op. Could use the legroom.

It fits perfect, same dimentions as the desk I was gonna build (but 15cm shorter length wise)
It's thicker that the custom desk, always nice :)

Is there something like this, but wider so I can put my case on top with plenty of room for the rest of my stuff?

For you sir I recommend kitchen bench with ikea custom legs. I would say around £40.00 + depends on the type of custom legs / kitchen bench.

In my old house when I used to rent I purchased a custom kitchen sparkling bench top + ikea legs. Worked perfectly. (£60.00) as legs were £9.00 each (extendable ones).

Why would anyone laugh at someone about a desk?!

I used to use a table for a PC desk untill it ws too small for my new monitor (this is back in the day of CRT's so my new Sony Trinitron 21" monitor was a behemoth!)

I just went to Homebase and had a huge peice of MDF cut (off the top of my head i would say it was over 2 metres wide by about 1 and a half metres deep, and about an inch thick) and just sat that on the top of the table.

In later life it got cut down and used as a removable hardwearing floor for the back of my dad's Volvo Estate.

Yarp,

Keep an eye on bargain corner too there always stacks of kitchen workbenches popup in the one in Gateshead. My only qualm with them is they tend to be quite shallow. Ofc you'll be limited to colour if you brgain corner it like.

Either the standard Vika Amon (I think) legs would do or alternatively the square cabinet looking legs, see the desk and room gallery :)
