He means have you replaced the uxtheme.dll file in your system32 folder with one which will allow 3rd party themes (visual styles).

Clearly no :o

Help.....

Guys, I think >:|sh4d0w|:<'s post was quoting and replying to Cashman who had asked for help on the previous page.
Don't think it was meant at you Wedge.
As said, a patched uxtheme.dll will let you use custom *.msstyles which are found in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\

Well you will need a 'patched' version of the file uxtheme.dll - which version you need depends on your version of Win XP. ie. whether you are using no Service Pack, SP1 or SP2.

There is plenty of info on how to do it on google or possibly on this forum if you do a search. I'm not very good at explaining how to do it sorry :o

BTW dont replace the file, its much less messy to use the .exe patcher, double cliuck, apply patch, reboot. done!

I must say I tried that once and it didn't work, but yeah that's the easiest way if it works! :)

Hiya my theme is called (Techno Dream) ...No Escape
To apply is u need to select it in Theme Wizard, then press OK, load up the Aston Shell Swapper and choose the Aston Shell leave all other options on default itll log out then when u log in it will have applied.

btw as ive noticed, i ran Ad - Aware SE few nights back and got rid of all the nasty spyware crap, but it also picked up the registry change that Aston Shell makes so u can use its desktop theme.
I deleted it by mistake and when i logged back on, my destop had reverted back to the standard Windows xp theme, but all u have to do is load up the Shell Swapper and select Aston Shell again and it will set your desktop back to the way it was settings and all. phew :)
