you might need to adjust the cpu and gfx description bits so that it can work with your computer as it will have been made to work with the computer its written on.

when you click on the items that display these properties look at the bottom right of the screen and there will be some drop down menu's. follow them through and find what it is you want to show. once you've done that the script should look in the right place and you wont have a 'not yet executed' msg anymore :)

let me know if you have anymore problems

Right before I even attempt to have a go at this for the first time, can I just ask this question?

I have styleXP installed for a full new theme effect.

Now, is Samurize the only way to get all those fancy things on your desktop? like the clock, CPU speed, HDD, etc?
Can this be used together with styleXP? or does Samurize need installing to control everything?

I mean will they conflict with each other? or are they just completely different programs?

Also do these things run in real time? I mean will the HDD or RAM usage or whatever change in real time?

There are other programs that can do what samurize does. Such as avedesk and object dektop and konfabulator. They can all be made to do similar things. For me samurize is the best though :)

Samurize does need to be installed in order to control (and run) the samurize scripts. It wont interfere at all with stylexp as theyre separate.

If you have a config showing the cpu usage etc it will be in realtime yes.

Hope that helps :)

Ok, is there a certain version I should go for or avoid? I mean usually people in the know, know that such and such a version is a dog and full of bugs for example.

or are there any certain things not to try and do? maybe they'll make a large performance hit or cause instability problems?

or is it a case of download the latest version and do what I want cos it's a really cool program that's well made?

Cheers for the help, much appreciated:)

Latest version is the best :p

If you keep the size of your config down, it'll reduce the memory and CPU time it munches

like tolien said!
and as a tip for actually using it: just play around with it thats the easiest way to learn it and find out what you can do and what you cant. and dont worry about making your own config right away, i didnt write my own until id just modded about 10 others id downloaded lol

i was feeling a bit grey today and although its probably the most pants my desktops looked in the last few days im sharing it anyway lol

I don't know which part to adjust... under select function to run I choose 'CPUSpeed' and then it asks 'please enter value for computer name' I don't know where to get that from. Thats also the problem im having with the gfx card.

Thanks :)

Right I've got one running, it's monitoring CPU speed, RAM usage, HDD, Network all correctly, plus displaying various info on my system.

Tried taking a screenie and everything shows up but samurize:confused: it's as if it's a ghost. Tried taking a screenshot of desktop and window but neither show the samurize stuff.

Any idea's why?

mine did that. i pinned my config to the desktop and then it worked okay. (right click the samurize icon go to position and its in there somewhere)

thats odd it should find those values automatically from your device manager list...

ill see if its a bug in this version or not

This is mine now. I ditched Smartbar XP & ObjectDock. They were hugely useful, but the former wasn't too hot on its resource usage due to its VB roots. I found Objectdock v.good too but leaky in ram usage. I tried Samurize for the second time, and now completely understand it for once - used to hate it, but now love it.

Thanks to someone on these boards I modded his script, and added the BBCInfo one to it. Whoever that person was, thanks a lot lol.

hi, glad some of you like my config, aka 'vipez config'

Chong Warrior - try pressing Print SCreen, then loading photoshop or similar program and ctrl V

I'll try that.

Is that yours, the vipez? that's the one I've been modding.;)

Where can I get some of those icons from? The icons from the one I've downloaded are too dark and can hardly be seen with most of the good wallpapers I use.

ok Matrix3412 to get the computername, goto change 'cpuspeed', scroll up the list to where you see 'computername' and test the script. Then write down the name of your computer, change back to 'Cpuspeed' and enter what it asks, test scipt and should work.

Thanks for replying :) where is the bit to change 'cpuspeed'?
Under active script, I select the function to run as CPUSpeed and enter value for computer name comes up. where is the list where I should be seeing computername?

Thanks :)

Edit: Sorry for being stupid (new to samurize lol) Ive found it now and its working :D thanks :)

Right click my computer and you'll see a tab at the top called Computer name it's in there.

If that's what you meant.

On second reading I don't think that's what you meant.:o The option to put computer name comes up when you select a function, like CPU speed for instance. You need to change it to the same name as your computer from whatever name was in there, it'll be what ever the guy's PC was called who's config you downloaded.
