I have just fitted a water cooling kit and every thing was fine primed it first shorting out the psu with the connector supplied but now when i turn pc on all i get is cpu init? I have the asus striker II Extreme .

I have even reset the bios thinking because i connectored the hard drives differently maybe?> I have even disconnected all of them to see if it moves on but nothing ?

no leakes anyway etc please please help it was working fine before i installed water cooling.
 
Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

Could any of the screws or bolts be shorting out the board?
 
Long shot :)

Some boards need a cpu fan detected to boot ( or disabling in the bios ).

Stick any old 3pin fan to the mobo header and try.

After CPU INIT the next boot stage is DET RAM.

Make sure you've put the ram back properly.

Re check the parts and cables are all secure , its easy to miss something simple when you've been messing around installing a water loop ( I've done it ! )

how the hell you work this out i took water cooling off and put old heatsink on and the thing went past the cpu init but the minute i put water cooling back on it sticks at cpu init again ? there is no leaks!! i am beginning to wonder if pushing fluid through the fusion block is shorting it which would be stupid considering thats what your suppose to do ?
 
You could be bowing your board with the excessive mounting pressure of the waterblock. CPU INIT(ialisation) means the board is struggling to detect your CPU.

Check for any bent pins in the CPU socket (doubtful but could be a cause).

Consider purchasing a backplate for your cpu block which prevents the board from bowing.

In the meantime don't screw down your cpu block too hard, finger tight is enough though not ideal.
 
i have kept the back plate that i use with the tuniq tower as it was stuck on with the adhesive pad. i have loosened it to the point the block can be slid on the chip and still the same i have even removed the board so that nothing was behind it in case something was touching the case and still the same? sny more suggestions :( thx again for your help as I am totally relying on your suggestions on this
 
again iv had this happen when the cpu block was screwed on to tightly, causing the board to bend, also iv had it happen on another occasion where the screws were causing the board to short, make sure you have insulated everything and there is not any mental in contact with the board (cpu block on cpu is fine).

Another problem maybe if you have already over tightened it and caused the pins to bend and/or you have tightened it so much you may of split the board slightly causing the wires in the mainboard (tracer wires things) to pull apart, causing the signals to not get through.

Best you can do now is totally remove everything, take the cpu out, FULLY inspect it and fully inspect the board, 1 pin at a time, check all is ok. Put it all back together consideratly and then do not overtighten, and try again, if this fails to work, put the old air cooled heatsink back on and see if that works.

Have you also w/c the northbridge ? same applies there.
 
well i am water cooling the north bridge etc through the fusion block on the board (asus striker II Extreme) the cpu block i am using is the one where you have a bracket around the block and then have a long bolt that goes through the centre of the bracket and screws to the centre of the block and you screw it so that it pushes the cpu to hold in place ?
 
sounds like a short with the block or improper contact block to cpu, If its working as soon as you put the hsf back on then its got to be a short. Try some non conductive thermal grease around the hsmight do the trick
 
ok i have just simply removed the cpu block and placed my tuniq tower on the cpu and used that for cooling and left my pump etc pumping water around the fusin block etc and would u believe it it went past cpu init? so i think that has narrowed it down to the cpu block ?
