Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Come on guys - ppl are excited purely because this shares the Deus Ex name. It looks nothing like Deus Ex. At all. Had this trailer been released with a different name it would have be received with a univseral meh!

I hope it's good and proves me wrong, but this looks like someone gave a kid who grew up in the playstatin generation a paragraph that roughly explains the first game and asked him to design a prequel.

'And then spikes will come out his arms!!!11'

Bah humbug :p

I disagree, from the CG I think it has a great Deus Ex atmosphere, more akin to the second one, but it still looks/feels like Deus Ex for me.

The new ideas wont do anything to hurt the brand imo, if anything, they’ll just go some way to upsetting elitists of the series, probably the same types who will be seething that this dare come out on a console!

Personally I’m looking forward to it :)

I've no problem with Deus Ex on a console, but a cover system and context take downs? It makes me question the developer's focus.

It won't be anywhere near as in depth as the first, lets face it. So I would have thought the devs would simply go for what everyone likes these days. Which is a cover system, take downs, simple menu's, little RPG element.

I think it will be a good game, but I hope they don't ruin it.

Like I said in the Crysis thread the lack of hype makes me think it will be rubbish. Comes out the same day as Crysis 2 as well doesn't it?

Nah lack of hype means nothing really, everyone is going to be sceptical after the second and the large gap in time in the series means it isn't as well known amongst the generation brought up on Halo/GoW etc.

Release date is 2011 tbc.

It was delayed in dec last year.

While it was originally planned for release in early 2011 (with some retailers listing it as early as February), today Square Enix announced that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be delayed to instead release in their next fiscal year, which begins next April.
The delay was revealed along with Square Enix's announcement that it's reducing their earnings forecast for the remainder of its fiscal year by a whopping 91 percent. Part of the reason is in fact because they've moved Deus Ex out of the current fiscal year, although Square Enix also cited the "harsh market feedback regarding a key title" -- almost certainly referring to Final Fantasy XIV.

As for the specific reason behind Deus Ex's delay, it's unclear how much of it had to do with simple market strategizing, and how much had to do with the game needing more time. Square Enix cited "weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year," and that "we therefore have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year." This at least seems to suggest it's partly an effort to close their books on the current fiscal year and bolster their next fiscal year instead.

Certainly, the last time we had a look at Deus Ex: Human Revolution (back during GamesCom in August), we already came away quite impressed. Whatever the reason may be for the delay, hopefully it'll just result in extra development time well spent.

Just saw this! 26th August, cannot wait. Already pre-ordered the Augmented Edition for the 360. Game looks amazing! This game and Crysis 2 are my most anticipated titles of 2011.

I'm sure it will be. It looks great so far from what I've seen and read about it. I'd rather wait a little longer for a more polished game, then for them to rush it out only to find it full of bugs and missing some features due to time constraints.

Hmmm the trailer looks great but I just don't feel I could justify a pre-order when we have no idea how this cinematic will translate into gameplay.

I loved the original game and are not really looking at this in a comparison - I just see some of those funky features (the lawn-strimmer wrist, the invisibility cloak, the blade arm) and wonder how they will actually translate into controlled gaming.

I await further evidence before getting excited! :p
