I made a bootable USB out of a Windows 7 64 bit install disk a few months back. Just plugged the USB in as I just wanted to check everything was still on it as I'm planning to do a fresh install onto my shiny new SSD.

Plugged it in and go this error message. Anyone know how to fix this? Is it a corrupt USB stick? When I plug it in it doesn't show in explorer or anything. Here's a screenshot from my Device Manager:

I've Googled and tried forcing uninstalling the drivers then rebooting etc and having no luck. Every time I plug it in I get that damn error.

I've even tried a different USB stick and that doesn't get recognised at all!

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Does it show up in Devices + Printers (hit start>devices and printers) ?

If it does you could try right-click > Troubleshoot > Apply fix
I have a flaky 8gb drive I have to do this for every time I plug it in.

Thanks, will try that when I get home. For now I've sacked it and just bought an OEM version of Win 7 64 bit. :p
