IGN Review - 8.7

"Though the focus might be more on Nero than Dante, and could've been named something else with a Dante cameo, DMC4 still has everything that fans expect of the game – over the top fight sequences, tons of replayability and an experience with an excellent production value. Whether it's on the PS3 or the 360, action fans are going to get one incredible experience with this game, and if you own either system, you'll have a great time."

PS3 appears to have a slight edge due to the hard drive loading things a bit quicker.

PS3 Devil will make you CRY with 20 min install time

" One of the main advantages of consoles over PC is forgoing the hassle of installing games, but it seems that this won't be the case with the upcoming Devil May Cry 4.

Game reviewers who got their hands on the game clocked the installation time of the Playstation 3 version of the game to more than 21 minutes.

The Xbox 360 version of the game requires no such installation and it doesn't suffer from longer loading times. After 21 minutes of installation, the Playstation 3 version took 4 seconds to load a level while the Xbox 360 needed 5 seconds."

21 mins damm thats well long!!

glad i have it on the 360 now only on mission 6 very very good game

Yeah the PS3 install is just to get loading times down to a reasonable level, guess 21 minutes aint too bad once you have done it once.

yeah but if its only one sec off the 360 time of reading it off the disk i can't see why its that bad on the ps3 :(

i do have a ps3 before i get flamed!!

Dont worry to much about the install its worth it according to IGN

No, the edge comes in the fact that the PS3 installs a large amount of game files to the hard drive, dramatically reducing load times between stages and cinematics. I've timed the game on both systems numerous times, and each time has been consistently in the PS3's favor. Transitions to gameplay from starting menus are relatively close, frequently within half a second or so of each other, but when you're loading up a cutscene or having another pause in the action, the 360's times are easily three times that of the PS3.

It also plays the story out of the first 3 DMC games while it installs or you can do something useful for 20 mins :D

This month makes me weep. I'm in debt up to the eye balls, Even so I've allowed myself 1 game. And this month, I've bought Lost Odyssey. But I really really want this.

Bah well, I'll wait a month. Just wish I could buy all the games I want right this second :D

Mine is on pre-order, from a place that likes to ship early :) So should get this by Thursday (which leaves me next to no time to play DMC3!)

p.s. IGN are not the only site that say the load times are dramatically reduced, certainly it is one of the reasons I am getting ps3 edition over the 360 edition.

demo was ok - classic DMC gameplay hasnt changed a bit i had hoped it would move on and not stick so rigidly to the "tried and tested" dont think its enough to convince me to buy. Its on the rental list.

I thought the background graphics were excellent but thought the model (player/monster and effects) graphics were a bit sub-standard.

You could actually play it after DMC 4 since DMC 3 is a prequel to the whole series anyway so there is no real need to rush through it.

yeah but you do know there is 1 sec in it!! lol you won't even notice (xbo360)5 sec to (ps3 after 20 min install time)4 sec loading times tbh lmao

Following that the opening load time on PS3 was five seconds against eight on 360. And then three seconds versus four, and four versus five seconds in following load screens, PS3 - 360. As you can see there's not much in it.

So over the course of an eight-to-ten hour game you might get your 21 minutes back over 360 players with ever-so-slightly shorter loading times. But really?

Thats 20% faster, quite a bit.

yeah but we are not talking about fps its 1 sec of time which is nothing and the fact it cost you 5gb on ure ps3 hd takes the **** a bit which is why i didn't buy it on the ps3 just seems a lot for to be 1 sec quicker lets not even say how its 10 quid more than the 360 version!!
