Devil May Cry Official Thread

I disagree, its giving you something better, so i can see why people would choose to go for the ps3 version over the 360 version.

Its funny, people always slate the ps3 for giving inferior versions, but when versions start coming out where the ps3 has something better to offer, that is also seen as a negative.

They cant win.

yeah but you do know there is 1 sec in it!! lol you won't even notice (xbo360)5 sec to (ps3 after 20 min install time)4 sec loading times tbh lmao

Following that the opening load time on PS3 was five seconds against eight on 360. And then three seconds versus four, and four versus five seconds in following load screens, PS3 - 360. As you can see there's not much in it.

So over the course of an eight-to-ten hour game you might get your 21 minutes back over 360 players with ever-so-slightly shorter loading times. But really?

Says above in some cases the 360 takes 3 times longer to load.

Can't be seen as a possitive for the PS3 if this starts happening on more PS3 games. Soon enough you'll run out of HD space and you'll have to uninstall then reinstall when you want to play it again. :/

Just got this e-mail

"We are pleased to inform you that your order has been dispatched today by 1st Class Recorded Signed For Delivery. You should receive your order in the mail tomorrow, please keep this email until your order arrives."

Got it for £27 :)

Having played DMC games before, any reduction in time between loading screens is welcome. Reading your own example (5 secs on ps3 vs 8 secs on 360) that is a big difference. It is not just 1 sec faster across the board 9s you semi imply). I have not read extensive reviews or anything, but certainly it is a mentionable difference. Only cvg review you linked to so far plays down the times, whereas other sites have the times pegged as a bigger difference (obviously I don't know which is correct as I don't have the game).

Only thing that bugs me is that it does not take 21 minutes to copy 5gb from BD to HDD. (I have games that did 2gb in stalls in like 4 minutes!!). I am sure the time is longer as it is also showing a recap of the previous 2 games (which presumably is streaming from BD, whilst at the same time other data is copying from BD to HDD for the 5gb install).

Each to their own, but as I own both I have the choice, so I will pick the version that is better, I appreciate not everyone will have this level of choice, so it is a "meh" purchasing factor for most.

You will get the PS3 version no matter what, or why would you not pick the faster loading therefore better versions (since you base loading times on being better) of Burnout and COD4 :p

I am not sure what you mean by this post? (Are you saying I would always get the ps3 version of a multiplat title (through some sort of bias?), or that in this case the ps3 multuiplat is "better" so makes sense to get it?).

Loading times is only better in this case as it will lead to a more fluid gameplay experience, but it would depend on the type of game I guess (Although off hand I cannot think of a time when quicker load times would not be a benefit in a game?). Capcom describe the ps3 version as having (http://blog.capcom.com/archives/839)
http://blog.capcom.com
...the PS3 version of the game has near-Super Nintendo speed load times. You’ll be amazed how fast levels load, the virtually instantaneous transition from cut scenes to action and that you’re continuously playing the game, as opposed to staring at loading screens of a door opening every time you move from one room to the next.....
I sense some exaggeration, but it seems like a win win situation for me (I don't care that it is using up 5gb of my HDD)

For Burnout I got the ps3 version as it is slightly better (subjectively) and for COD4 I found a good deal on the ps3 version so got that.

Really tempted to actually buy this instead of going with a rent.

Want the PS3 version really as it would just be wrong to play on the Xbox, strange to see that it's £10 less on the box also!

yeah but we are not talking about fps its 1 sec of time which is nothing and the fact it cost you 5gb on ure ps3 hd takes the **** a bit which is why i didn't buy it on the ps3 just seems a lot for to be 1 sec quicker lets not even say how its 10 quid more than the 360 version!!

Oblivion on PS3 is quicker load times by a few seconds and that is extremely noticeable.

It's so funny all these xbox fangirls, if the consoles were switched and the xbox guys had to install they would all be like, "Our's loads faster, i don't care that i had to install it, what's 20 minutes anyway?". Just seems like there picking holes at anything the PS3 does, even if it a good thing!

Having to install stuff on the HDD on the PS3 is a major plus, on some games you don't have to do it but if you do you'll reap the rewards. Take Unreal 3 for example, it's not mandatory, but if you install the data, you get faster load times, better texture loading times (Unreal engine) and a quieter console as it doesnt have to read from the disc constantly (something xbox owners won't know about ;) )

Less loading screens also, Which is awesome. Out in the big world, You hardly see any.

Until you run out of room and are faced with paying to upgrade and the hassle that comes with that, or remove games just to play another game, wonderful really I think :)

I think its great that it improves loading times. The amount of times i die during games the less time spent waiting for it to reload the better. Let's face it 5gb of space is hardly anything these days especially as you can easily upgrade the HD in the PS3 unlike the 360 ;)

360 you can just unclip it and change it, hard for you? but the 360 does not need 5gig of game installed to work so its not really an issue is it?

5gig is not a lot of space no, but 40gig wont last long if many games start demanding a 5gig install, remember its not optional its demanded.

I will have to check that on my 360 then, i didn't realise you could just "clip" a hard drive to it. Will any hard drive do?

Anyway, i think its a good thing. Anything to lower loading times, lets face it, we been doing it on pc's for years.
