Devil May Cry Official Thread

Will any hard drive do on the PS3? fail to see your point, its very easy to upgrade the 360 hard drive, its not even screwed in place.

It's the price that most people find hard to take.

Off course, but its not hard to upgrade it now is it if you wanted to and could justify it, off course you could even use multiple 20gig ones changing as needed but anyway the 360 does not demand HDD space for games so its not really an issue for that console :)

Oh god its turning into a PS3 vs 360 thread again what a surprise, I've got a 250gb HD and I need to fill it with something might aswell be with making a game load faster, besides we have waited nearly 3 years for DMC4 whats another 20 minutes.

people dont complain about having to install pc games first. stupid, pathetic argument.

its a valid question, you cant just use any hard drive can you?

Why is it valid? the 360 does not need HDD to play games, and you can't use any HDD on PS3 either, as he seems to be suggesting. And it is not hard to upgrade it as he also suggested.

360 can only accept 2 different highly priced MS peripherals as a HDD. The PS3 can use any 2.5" SATA HDD.

That is probably what you meant (I am guessing), in that it is easier to do the 360 swap, but you get less choice of HDDs.

Also the 360 DOES need a HDD to play some games (although not like the ps3 in terms of installations, but worth mentioning, for the sake of correctness).

I don't see the problem, it seems silly to say that this will be a problem in the future when only 1 game so far has mandated that the data HAS to be loaded (this game). It is optional on other titles. This is the exception, rather than the rule (based on what is released so far).

Think Burnout, it requires a HDD for online play (first game to do this I think on 360) It would be silly for me to say this will be the norm and people need to buy HDDs etc based on 1 game.

Burnout needs HDD to play online on 360? were does it tell you that?

On the back of the box. Aren't you the one always chastising people for not reading the back of the box and game manuals? :p

(I can't talk, I didn't check the box to realise there is no offline 2 player!!)

XBOX 360 HDD/ONLINE STATEMENT

In the interests of clarity we wanted to let you all know why Burnout Paradise requires a HDD for full online play on 360.

When we envisioned Burnout Paradise we set out to create an amazing open world experience in Paradise City, one that ran at a blistering 60Hz, that featured incredible vehicle deformation and importantly, one that was seamless between offline and online play. We also wanted to create a game that could be extended with additional downloadable content. We've made no secret of this fact and we see it as a great way to respond to how players experience Burnout Paradise by offering new content in the future.

It's important for us that all online players could show off new content when they go online and unfortunately it wasn't going to be possible to do this by supporting the lowest common storage denominator, the 64Mb Memory Unit, either in size or data read speeds. Crucially we also didn't want to split the playing community between those that have updated data and those that don't. We saw this as vital in maintaining simplicity to all online users; different players having different content packages wouldn't be able to play online with each other.

We opened a dialogue with Microsoft to attempt to discover a possible solution and all possible technical options were investigated to retain the seamless freedom of Burnout without requiring the HDD. Unfortunately a solution was not available and we decided together that it would be in the best interests of the Burnout community if we require the HDD for full online play.

We're disappointed that we are unable to offer Core users the complete Burnout Paradise online experience. However, Core users do get to access the online Road Rule gameplay where they can compete to see who has the best time or the best showtime score amongst their friends on each of the games 64 roads. Additionally they get access to the extended leaderboard content for this feature where they can view the Top 10 players amongst their friends on each road and see which car their friends used to set their fastest time or highest Showtime score. This is a great feature that allows players to compete against each other irrespective of whether they are actually online at the same time.

We hope that this answers all your questions,
The Burnout Team

Ok, i think i see the problem here, perhaps i didn't explain it very well. Mr Men what i am trying to say is that you are limited with what Hdd you can use with the 360. You can use the 20gb (12gb reserved for backwards compatibility, so only really 8gb or so) Microsoft Version or the 120gb Microsoft version which i may add are over priced somewhat. With the PS3 you need a 2.5” 5400 RPM SATA drive which costs in the region of £70 from Ocuk. I understand i could have multiple 360 Hdd, but why would i want to do that, i have the option of one large hdd. For me with a PS3 i feel that the install which will take 5gb of my drive space to be worth the trade off for faster loading times and a much quieter console with no drive noise.

Thanks rp2000, explained better than me.

Ok fair enough but its only about 6 gig reserved for system settings, dash and backwards compatibilty ;)

So the HDD from my PC will fit in the PS3 right?

yeah why not, mine does:) im currently using a 250gb seagate 7200.10. but if i need more space, bang in another 3.5" drive in to the caddy and away i go.

people say you just dont need to space, but i dont know.... im already using 54gb, and i have no movies or music installed on my ps3 lol but anyway, back on topic! :P

Ah so just have it hanging out the back or something? much like you could have any USB HDD for the 360 then?

You can't use a USB drive for the same purposes as the official HDD on the 360.
But on the PS3 you can plus a SATA drive in through the bay, but leave the drive out.

Anyway, there is no point in arguing with you, i am just going to sit on the sidelines and laugh again :D
