Dexter - Original Sin (2024)

This is actually pretty good.

are they using AI to slightly alter all the faces to make them look like the original characters but younger? the resemblances are often uncanny
The new Angel Batista guy looks spot on and sometimes but not always the guy playing dexter has striking similarities with Michael C hall


I think Young Dexter comes across a bit too awkward and simple though... even most autistic people don't really act like that...

Yeah i am liking it as well. The mannerisms with the young Dexter are pretty much bang on.

I will say some of the stuff is a bit cringe. Batista is a pretty cringey character in the original same as Masuka. I also thought it was too on the nose in the latest ep seeing Brian.

I really hope they dont make SMG a victim of a killer and certainly not of Dexter.

Thought this was much better than new blood more like the original series only thing i thought was out of place was SMG hope they kill her off..

I don't really know. Loved the original and thought I would love this but... maybe just not in the right mood and should give it another go?

I suppose as with everything you enjoyed decades ago, sometimes you aren't the same person years later. As with all tv shows we used to enjoy but dislike now.

If it's anything like the original show, I found that in watching the episodes (Dexter was one of those shows that I'd eat through a season at a time) i'd have to be in a particular....Almost kind of sadistic mood to enjoy the slow, methodical narration of Michael C. Hall.
 
I think they have done a good job, the actors are different so you have to forget about the ones we've known, and in isolation this new one does a good service to the style of Dexter from old, the banter, the music, the crimes and killings and the monologue.

I guess I can grab the pilot and see if I enjoy it. It's going to be quiet today, so hardly any opportunity for anyone to indulge my spam and half unhinged insights. :cry:
 
It properly picks up after ep 2 and 3 adds in reinforcement of Harry'[s code and its importance. I think it will be ep 4 before it really gets into the stride of Dexter. The first 3 eps set the narrative up I feel and paint a picture for a new audience to the series who will not have seen the original.

Alright. I'll trust you at your word and grab the episodes - however if i feel like it's dunking on the original dexter, I'm coming for you and i'm putting glue in your brandy. :cry:

ok your brandy is safe, and I'm now eagerly awaiting episode 4 on friday. It took me a minute to click on who la geurta was. Christina milian! Sarah Michelle Gellar! It's like a cast composed of my favourite issue of loaded from back in the day. :D
