Dexter

So... who caught that finale? I know a lot of shows can get tired and 'samey' after this many series, but i have to say that this consistently has me on the edge of my seat. That said i still haven't seen the first few series, but whatever :p
 
I just saw the season final and that was one big cliffhanger, I'm so excited to see the next season.

I though the season was decent not the best but good, I did enjoy it more then last season but that maybe because of edward james olmos :) . I did feel the young guy was less intimidating without ed and the last fight was a bit of a let down, but i still enjoyed the story on a whole.

The only thing I didn't like was ...,

the whole incest storyline with deb, it made no sense. How could she suddenly fall in love with her brother. The fact dexter was adopted is no excuse as they were both babies when he was, so they are as much brother and sister as blood relatives. It's just weird.

I am eager to see how she deals with dexter. I assume she won't tell anyone but holding a secret like that will probaly destroy someone who considers themselves to be a good cop.
 
I may not have liked it because it felt 'wrong', but that doesn't mean i don't like the twist. It sort of makes sense. I guess 'incest' is considered wrong mainly because of the high probability of producing offspring with genetic conditions. Being adopted would do away with that.

I'm not sure Deb is quite the servant of the law that you seem to think she is. She follows her gut and does what she thinks is right, not what she's told. Remember the series before this when she walked in on Dexter and Lumen (without knowing who they were) and let them go?

maybe it's not "wrong" but it's still strange when she's known him all her life but I guess it could be like two people growing up together as children and then falling in love, it's kind of a grey area.

She may not be the perfect cop but she believes she makes decisions that are right for her moral compass even if they are against the rules. There's a difference from bending the rules and covering up for a killer, she could let him go when she didn't know it was him but can she live with it when she sees him everyday knowing what he did. I'm not so sure she could.
 
Just watched all the way to the end of series five.

It was pretty good up until season three. Season four was vaguely interesting but season five was pretty bad.

Oh and Deborah Morgan is one of the most annoying fictional characters to have ever been created in any medium.

I don't subscribe to all this Deb hate. She represents the consequences of the way Dexter lives, and has lived since childhood. Without her he would have pretty much no obligation to do anything.
 
I find her entire character one dimensional and absolutely irritating. The only sliver of character development she's had is when she walked away from Dexter and Lumen after they killed Jordan Chase. She's constantly angst ridden about her past/her family's past and is forever making bad relationship choices. She's extremely annoying.

Most of the supporting cast are highly irritating, actually. Dexter appears to be a show which is centered on the development of a singular character, with a performance by the main character that is absolutely exceptional, yet it is at the behest of the other characters; everyone else is underdeveloped at the expense of Dexter himself. Which was ace to begin with, but by the time the fifth season rolled around I wanted more.

And the fifth season left the entire motive of the antagonists unanswered, too. We get that the people who were killed deserved it, but we never find out why they did what they did Miami Metro Homicide included.

It's a show which has become increasingly ridiculous as it has progressed. Which is a shame, because I had a lot of love for it at the start.

I've yet to see season six, but I predict that Deb will become a Sergeant, with Batista becoming Lieutenant and LaGuerta becoming Captain - that's how predictable it's become.

EDIT: I should say that I've just watched five seasons back to back, and I think that by doing so it's made all the flaws very apparent.

Well the show isn't as predictable as you think it is :p and I found there were some surprising moments in season 6 but maybe everyone else saw them coming and I'm an idiot :p

Tbh I do see where your coming from and even though I enjoy it I do find it getting a little repetitive with the storylines. I just want to see how they are going to finish dexters story.
 
I like series six, liked all the series for that matter.

I know that Colin Hanks was not very threatening but that was part of the appeal.

As for Deb finding out about Dexter that mirrors the books where she knows that he only kills bad people and therefore sees it as a greater good. In one story she actively encouraged him to kill someone after she could not get him legitimately.

This. She's a whining stupid **** that aggravated me to the point where I lost interest in the series.

All she does is continually ****ing bleat on about issues. So useless. Not to mention she's an ********.
 
Ugh, she is not hot at all. Too manly. Plus after having watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose I can't get her demon faces out of my head.
 
I see Yvonne Strahovski (of Chuck/Mass Effect series fame) will be joining Dexter for multiple episodes next season...next season just got a lot better :)
