Well my motherboard chipset fan is making sounds like a concrete mixer under load and the chipset temps shoot up over 50segC...

So what have people replaced their chipset heatsink and fan with?

I have a X800XL that overhangs the chipset area.

Do you have any pictures of this? Have heard of it a lot but very intrested to see how it looks as a feature on the bord

DFI will probably replace this for you free of charge. You could also try re-seating it/cleaning it and apply some AS5 for improved thermal conductivity.

Its not a fault with the cooler, its just a very noisy cooler that isn't that good at cooling, As for the AS5, it dropped 6C of mine at idle but only 2C at full load, still its very noisy and a pain in the arse.

I really want some solutions to this as its driving me nuts

or watercooled

Lunaforce L4e block there.

Also, vantec iceberg, Jing Ting cooler. Evercool do vga coolers which fit.

Split the PCI-E lanes to 8/8 instead of 16/2 by moving the jumper blocks, put your graphics card in the lower PCI-E slot, then just mount the Zalman normally :) that's what I'm gonna do anyway!

Decided to give my chipset, X800XL and CPU a good clean..

The CPU needed it - that was obvious.

The chipset looked completely clean. Took a screwdriver around the inside and a supprising amount came out (eww).

The supprise one was the X800XL. unscrewed the top of the HS and it was nicely blocked..

Now I can't remember the last time I cleaned it... so that means it's not had a clean since the X2s first appeared!

All back to normal..

why cant no 1 make a decent after market copper cooler like the
Thermalright NB-1C did for 875 chipset i did'nt even need
a fan with Thermalright NB-1C.

nvida chipset has been out 2 years and only 1 Chipset cooler (zalaman wich is crap, to tall) that waterblock on welshtoms looks like it would be nice as a chipset cooler :D

As tom said the jing ting force looks good but nowhere stocks it over here, in fact you would struggle to get one of these anywhere as stocks have dried up untill a new revision of the cooler is released next month.

The best bet is to modify a cpu heatsink to fit the n/b.

I did see one cooler that was similar to the akasa evo cpu coolers in that it had a very thin base with heat pipes coming out into a heatsink. That way it could sit away from vga cards and not cause any interference - even with the ones that overhang loads. I cant remember its name though but it according to the review it was really good at keeping it cool. Was about £50 though. If i remember name then will update post
