In the description it mentions that it is ideal for gaming, I have always read that IPS are not great for gaming due to ghosting and other issues. What makes this one different?

IPS is absolutely fine for gaming. Just some think otherwise and peoples oppinions differ. But for me an IPS is more than good enough and my DELL 3007 was superb and even though some TN's are faster I found the higher resolution of IPS was always more beneficial in games for quality of image as the quality of image in games was also better.

For me higher resolution simply looks better and TN can't do such resolutions.
 
IPS is great for gaming, high resolution, great colours etc, the lack of a scaler also generally reduces any input lag. Sure if you are a competitive FPS player then TN maybe a better fit but personally I'd rather have a large IPS with excellent image quality myself.

However after previous "issues" with DGM I have to ask is the full 3 years direct with OcUK? or is it just the first year and the other two are with the dreaded "Repair" Tech?
 
Would this monitor still look decent downscaled to 1080p for a few things (My brother has a 1080p 27 inch monitor and it looks great and I have got one or two VRAM limited games)

Just wish we had some info on if it was overclockable

Oh man what a choice... I really want a 27" monitor and with that warranty this is a sweet deal, I was going to hold out for one of the Dell displays, but at nearly half the price I'm now not so sure!

Agreed. 3 year warranty is fantastic with returns to OcUK. Very tempting but I'd have to upgrade my poor GTX470. :(
 
Order in, damnit - Been looking at monitors for the last few weeks and then out comes a deal like this.

3 Years with OCUK too, that's bloody awesome.
 
I game on an IPS monitor and can't say that I've noticed any issues. My old housemate got a cheaper TN panel and having compared the two I would never get a TN panel personally. Unless you were some hardcore FPS gamer the TN is too much of a sacrifice in colour reproduction and viewing angles for me as most of the time my monitor is being used for work and media and IPS really shines there.
 
Ok, my quandary.

I have a Dell 2707 (1920x1200), but I need a new screen for the GF's PC.

So I was thinking of getting a cheapo TN, but I also wanted a second screen for me. So another 2707 would be required, but they are next to impossible to get. So I was looking at having to get two new screens and donating my 2707 to the GF, but the costs are huge...these however aren't THAT bad, still nearly £700 for two, but that's better than over £1k.

The question is, has anyone seen a review of these? Although I know I can DSR them, I don't think it's morally right, it just seems wrong somehow...even though I did it with those shocking Razer headphones with no qualms.

Would OCUK be ok with buying two and taking them back if they weren't close (ish) to my 2707? Maybe I should be less of a girl about it.

Maybe if you bought 2 and only opened 1? At least then that facilitates the easy return and then it can be sold on again if it goes back to OcUK.

If they have the same panel in as the ACDs do it will look sweet as. I was so close to buying one of the Yamakasi displays, but money at the time + Korean warranty was a bit of a deal breaker for me.

My only thought would be if this is a glossy display it will look different to your Dell straight away, although this is me assuming that the Dell isn't glossy as well.

The Dell is matte.
