Diablo 3 (Console versions)

Davey, managed to obtain a gift for you (didn't know that was a thing). If it's good, you're welcome, if not, I take no responsibility.

I completed this first time though last night. Doing it in local coop we got to level 69. Very enjoyable game but I do feel like the player ends up balencing the difficulty on behalf of the developers... I mean we raised it from normal all the way up to master on one playthrough. Its almost as if Blizzard hadn't considered all the ways a player can make their characters stronger or something... strange. Also there was a few HUGE difficulty spikes at random points and not really the end bosses either. Still a really fun game on the whole despite a few niggles :).

I think normal is supposed to be easy(I think it is equivalent to easy mode on pc) you dont want to turn away new players by having them die all the time.

Good thing is you can turn up the difficulty pretty much when you like.

the difficulty does ramp up quite steeply between lv60-lv70. i could just about keep my 2nd witch doctor at master level but i do have 350 paragon points so i could keep very tanky.

The thing is though the challenge doesn't scale with the player. On "normal" Act 1 was a fair challenge, yet by act two it became a complete cake walk. Most games the challenge level is either maintained or raised as the game goes on without having the player manually change the difficulty level all the time. Thats the problem with RPGs with lots of mechanics to level up characters.. you have to cater for people who don't equip gems, legendary items etc which leaves quite a big divide with those that do augment their character in every way possible.

You are really other thinking it, Diablo is about cranking up the difficulty to get more change of better drops!

There is always some thing to chase.

I just think you should play well using the game mechanics your given and after one complete run it should leave you perfectly poised to tackle the next difficulty... all the way through. Maybe im old fashioned but adjusting the difficulty on the fly takes you out of the experience somewhat and is on the lazy side for developers (though as you say better loot and exp does help).

They got rid of the fast leveling bounties :(

Still, first series of bounties finishes and the cache gave me a Ring of Royal Grandeur, so not all bad, but leveling my last 3 chars is going to suck.

Had a quick play for twenty mins earlier and was surprised with the patch.
I got my first greater rift key though :)

What is the first and second series/season referring to?

Just got into the Vault for the first time, holy hell that's a lot of money. Got a nice few legendaries and set items from the boss as well so hopefully more of them to come.

Just come on this thread and I'm pleasantly surprised to see 2.1 patch has landed! after not playing D3 for about a week, will fire up D3 soon and download it, whats the size of it? got to download a xbox update first, AGAIN seems to be every few days and it don't help with a mega slow connection :(

Patch 2.1.0 is now live for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

New features in Patch 2.1.0 include:

"What's New" Screen
A "What's New" screen will now appear whenever a player logs into the game after a new patch has been installed (and pressing "Start" at the Main Menu). As the name suggests, this screen will provide a quick overview of new features included in the patch.

The Cesspools
When adventuring in Nephalem Rifts and Greater Rifts, players will have a chance to encounter a new randomized environment: The Cesspools. Originally designed as the sewers of Westmarch, this festering, dank underworld is now ready to explore and plunder!

The Vault
Whenever Treasure Goblins are defeated, there's now a chance they will spawn a new type of portal through which players can enter. Inside this mysterious new realm known as "The Vault," mighty treasures await…along with Sanctuary's newest boss: the Baroness Greed.
Please note that portals to The Vault can only be accessed in Adventure Mode, and that they will not appear inside Nephalem Rifts or Greater Rifts.
For more information about The Vault, click here.

Greater Rifts
Greater Rifts are a special type of timed Nephalem Rift. There are an infinite number of Greater Rift levels, and each level will be progressively more difficult than the last. Upon completing a Greater Rift, players will be able to choose between one of two rewards: a chance to upgrade their Legendary Gems or (if they complete the Greater Rift level within its allotted time) the opportunity to move on to the next Greater Rift level. Players can continue progressing through Greater Rift levels so along as they complete the current Rift level before its timer expires.
Please note that Greater Rifts can only be accessed in Adventure Mode.
For more information about Greater Rifts, click here.

Legendary Gems
Legendary Gems are a new type of gem that can drop in Greater Rifts and The Vault and will offer powerful abilities when socketed into Rings and Amulets. Players will have the opportunity to upgrade their Legendary Gems over time by completing Greater Rifts.
For more information about Legendary Gems, click here.

Ramaladni's Gift
Ramalandni’s Gift is a new Legendary item that will allow players to add a socket to any weapon that does not already have one. This item can drop randomly in the game world and will be consumed on use.

Good luck, nephalem. We wish you fortune and glory in your continued adventures across Sanctuary!

To update your game, please make sure you are signed in to either your PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account. PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are not required to access this newest update.

Edit: We are aware that some players are reporting that they have not seen a notification for the 2.1.0 update on console. Please be aware that although the patch is technically live, it may take some time for users in some areas to receive the patch update notification. We do expect that all players on PS4 and Xbox One will have received the notice to update by around 6PM PDT. To those who have not received the update notice yet, we thank you for your patience!

they have tweaked some other things

the second rune on barbarian power call of the ancients used to extend their time they fought...thats no longer the case it now causes them to freeze the enemies so they only ever stay for 20 seconds now
