Diablo 3 (Console versions)

Played some coop with a friend last night, his Witch Doctor with 7-8 pets and my Wizard spamming ice & lightning - game held up quite nicely, some slowdown but not the slideshow I expected.

Being a barbarian sucks. Insta death left, right and centre!
What difficulty, Normal (Hard) or Normal (Medium)?

I've played PC version at release and finished inferno before the nerf patch but after the first major patch the game just simply died to me, everything became too easy and after finish game with all characters the game became pointless with everyone just grinding for slightly better gear and every patch things become more and more easy.

The AH quite ruined the game and crafting was totally useless.

The PS3 version tho does sound interesting as I remember playing Diablo 1 on PS1 and absolutely loved it to bits. Lack of AH and improved drops and crafting make it sound like the old good days.

Does anyone who finished Inferno on PC tried the ps3/xbox version or is planning to?

Can i ask what you mean by this? When i started i only saw easy medium and hard and the other 2 locked? Is there some sort of inbetween between medium and hard then?

Thanks

On PC the game is divided into Normal, Knightmare, Hell and Inferno.

Presumable on consoles each of the above have an easy, medium and hard?

I think that is what he is asking.

When you pick between easy, medium, hard etc, you're setting the Monster Power :)

Starting fresh with Normal (Hard) might be tricky, they do hit harder and have a fair bit more HP.

Ah ok so i start on normal by default, and the difficulty i chose was seperate to that then after finishing it, the next actual mode will be unlocked?

On the selection screen i was given, the 2 higher difficulties unlock at level 10 or something

I quit playing before the nerf patch and almost finished Inferno. I have just got this for the PS3 (not played yet). The idea of a more closed system, better and more meaningful loot and 4 player online/offline couch co op play clinched it for me. After checking out 4 player co op videos and streams I didn't notice any slowdown or tearing. I'm looking forward to checking it out :)

The easy, medium, hard +++ options are the monster power level, so you could play the easy, medium or hard version of normal mode, then easy, medium or hard on nightmare mode and so on.

Is it just me but is medium difficulty not even a challenge? Level 8 and not died once or had a challenge! Does it get harder or should I change early now to next one up??

It gets easier once you get a few decent rares and legendaries, then a bit harder again in inferno. You may as well up the difficulty now to get through normal, nightmare and hell if you want more of a challenge.

Ive now popped the difficulty from medium to hard and its much more my speed currently :) the evade on the right stick is cool and crowd controlling is now more important!

Quick question about saving during dungeons, i got to level 3 of the cathedral and found a blue waypoint which is cool, any way i continued, searched that whole floor and the next. Then reached a 'checkpoint' and assumed i would resume there when i returned but that wasnt the case, so what does a check point do and can dungeon progress be saved, or are 'Way points' good to use as breaks so you can warp back to there and continue rather than going on for a bit more and losing progress if you quit?

Its not a problem i think thats how it works

Love it though so not a problem, just something ill have to plan ahead for

IIRC from the PC version once you've lit up/activated a waypoint you should be able to access all of them from a drop down menu at any other waypoint. Not sure about consoles.

When you reach a checkpoint and quit the next time you go back in game there will be a portal in town you can use to go back to that checkpoint.

When you reach a waypoint and quit the next time you go back in game you'll need to use the waypoint in town to get there.

Oh really? Thats interesting thanks! May have missed that now lol when i reloaded and used the waypoint to get back i assume that would have overwritten the portal in town for sed checkpoint

Anyone pick this up on PS3? Also any tips for getting started? No idea about classes or crafting etc.

You'll get the hang of it as you play. If you want an in-your-face tank class choose Barbarian. Ranged attacks/AOE choose Demon Hunter. All classes are viable though they would just be my recommendations.

Went for Wizard in the end because long rang spells etc. Seemed like an ok idea.

Be a barb n smash everything in your path. I've got this on the PS3 add me if you want matey my psn is pleyor.

Didn't pick the barbarian mostly because I would have called it Conan and it would look nothing like Conan the barbarian.

I'll get your tag added.
