** Diablo 4 Thread **

Necro is the only class I’ve not played in D4, so went with a Necro Minions build and as others have already said it’s very OP. Cleared WT3 at mid 30s and WT4 at low 50s. Currently at 74 and steam rolling NM50 with average gear at best.

playing double swing barb and it's really fun, very different from rogue I played on release. The game right now feels like it should have at release really. Just needs a bit of tunning on some builds and power creep. One of the issues though is after about lvl 70 the levelling just gets really repetitive. Needs more end game mechanics and game loops

Barb and druid are the most fun classes (although Barb got a massive nerf this season). All the others are boring

I'm quite enjoying it, the early game is super easy (and quick) but pushing into the Pit is making me pay real attention. For those who are actually playing, the Elixir of Holy Barbs is super OP in high level activities, not sure if its busted or intended but its damage scaling is insane. If you are strugglnig to push, try it out. I think the fact it lasts 15 minutes means it is intended for Pit pushes, with the momentum one intended for speed farming.

I played a bit again to try and get to the end game content.

Necro Minions are so OP, to give some perspective, I've done the trial end game event and the enemies in there are level 125. I did this with my Necro at level 60 by letting the minions face roll - I stayed outside the room and sent all the minions in and the level 125 enemies could not kill my level 60 minions - I had to stay out of the room to do this, if I went in I would get instantly one shot killed by the enemies as my Necro is weak, but my minions basically cant die and do insane damage

I hope Blizzard doesn't nerf minions though, its fun destroying everything

I'm a bit of a diablo 4 noob, I'm level 26 ( grabbed the game a few weeks ago and only play casually for the story/quests) and sicne the new season I cannot upgrade my weapons at the bvlacksmith anymore? I read they're replaced by 2 systems??

But what is the tl:dr version: how do I unlock upgrading items at the blacksmith? Or should I sell everything for now loot wise ?

It's the new masterwork system. You have to farm mats to upgrade, but I wouldn't bother upgrading at your level as loot is fast and frequent, save mats for end game

There are 3 systems now for "upgrading" gear :
1. Enchantment - at the occultist you can reroll one, and only one, affix.
2. Tempering - accessed via blacksmith, allows you to add 1 affix ( or 2 for ancient legendary items ) using recipes you find in open play.
3. Masterworking - again, accessed via blacksmith after you've completed a tier 46 nightmare dungeon and the 1st level of The Pit ( essentially D4's equivalent of greater rifts ).

I'd also add adding gems/sockets as a reworked system - it's much harder now gathering enough shards to create a Royal gem. Adding sockets to items needs Shattered Prisms, which are very rare - drop from world boss and other uber-bosses, but not always.

As @rumple9 says, don't bother with any of this until end game. Little point wasting gold & materials on imperfect gear. Oh, and another thing ... gold is harder to earn in S4, so again save it for gear that has a chance of being close to perfect.

Not really, POE has many different systems and mechanics to engage with.

The trouble with D4 is there's not much to do and what there is to do is boring.

Not played PoE, but I've not played an ARPG that deviated from the core loop of kill more stuff to get stuff. Doesn't matter how it was framed, i.e, dungeon, rift, whatever, it was still just repetition, farming some material etc. I get it's the nature of that genre so it's probably just not for me is all.

It's also the zones, tile sets and enemy types. Most other arpgs have a much larger range of areas you'll go through with more enemy types to deal with. How many times is the same boss used in a dungeon in D4? It just makes it feel repetitive much faster than some of the others
