Diablo3 !!!!!!!!!!!!

The last attempt at a D2 clone by Blizzard, Hellgate:London, had even more nerfed skills. And again you never felt you were gaining anything when you advanced skills. The Blizzard team said it was to avoid cookie-cutter builds, and to force players to swap the skill in use a lot. Sorry, but it's my decision as a player how often I swap skills. But this leaves me worried how nerfed the skills in D3 will be.

Hellgate was written by Flagship Studios, nothing to do with Blizzard. Flagship consists of a bunch of ex-Blizzard employees (primarily those who created the Diablo series) who lost their way and thought they could create a great game without the help of the rest of the Blizzard team - how wrong they were! :p

Sorry - I obviously got my teams the wrong way around.

Blizz still haven't said a release date or even a release window for Starcraft II, I don't think D3 will have anything solid for at least another year if not more.

I think i'll try and forget it exists until there's a point in starting to get excited.

One thing I'd be interested to hear is if WoW players might move to this as a replacement game for them? It's not an MMO, of course, but it's got enough of a online MP aspect that casual players who aren't guilded might take this up instead.

either way i will build a new machine before getting either SC2 or D3, hopefully nahalem and a 4870 or the newest ati revision. so i dont think ill have any worries running at full res

I would say if you can run Titan Quest decently, then D3 will run fine. They both look similar.

It'll run fine, Blizzard never really aim for next gen graphics in their games, they just aim for a nice polished reliable game that's balanced and fun :)

Hunter (with trap skills like assassin and pets like druid)
Cleric/Paladin (has to be a holy/healing character)
Magic character, sorceress, warlock, mage, wizard whatever. Most likely to be mage as its the only one that covers both sexes.

Gameplay over graphics ANY day!
I just went and bought D2 and its expansion and it still looks good.
Hell its got amazing gamplay and very good character motions, considering it's age :D

D3 will be amazing if they kept true to the originals.

Just because you have gameplay doesnt mean you cant have good graphics as well. If it was completed in 2010 ( wouldnt have thought so with vids released ) then it would look very dated by then. Doesnt look anything special now that most computers wouldnt handle but I am sure that better games will be out by then with better graphics.

What he means (I think) is that by that time they should be able to make it better looking but with better graphics.

I really like the look of this....Think it will be fantastic with 4 people in a group. I am surprised that a lot of people are suggesting 2010 as a release date!
From the 20ish minute gameplay trailer, the engine looks very stable and can cope with large bosses, multiple enemies etc etc etc.
I'd say the engine will just need tweaking and some have suggested that it is the same engine they are using for Starcraft 2 which does make a lot of sense.

I would say it'll be out for Christmas '09. I hope it will anyway...

If anyone wants to feed their action RPG hunger for a bit we could get some games of Titan Quest going online sometime? Its so worth the price it is on steam currently imo.

Whats everyones Class predictions then?

1. Barbarian
2. Witchdocter
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?

:)

Well they've got melee awesomeness, warcries, ranged magic and pets with the two currently revealed classes hmm. My not so realistic picks:

3. Woodsman - Shape-shifting, stealthiness and 'natural' magics combined with use of bows and other ranged weapons. In their helmet slot they would equip class-specific hooded cloaks instead.

4. Preacher - If there's going to be a 'holy' healing/buffs class I reckon it will be in the form of a caster not a melee char like the D2 Paladin. It'll surely still have auras though, those were a fantastic idea. Oh and instead of shields (in the vein of the D2 Necromancers and their shrunken heads), their off-hand will be for holding sacred texts/tomes.

5. Dwarven Blacksmith - Someone who's skills relate to the manufacture and use of traps, armour/weapon spikes and various other items (not necessarily for trading and use by other players), ideally with the ability to use blunderbusses and other primitive gunpowder-related weaponry.
