Did CERN just break physics?

would we not currently have (in 2011), time travellers, visiting us?

Not if the time travel only went in one direction (forwards) and was developed in the future - although I'm sure some might argue that there is no concept of direction when it comes to time. Also there is no guarentee that even if we were visited by time-travellers, that we would be aware of their presence.

I've experienced Deja-vu before a couple of times but unfortunately the first time I 'experienced' the events I wasn't aware that it was actually a premonition of a future event.

just remember your perception of time is purely retrospective. You only know what you remember, a memory from today that for some reason is stored/"labelled" as from last Saturday to you now you would swear blind you knew what was going to happen today despite that being untrue simply because your only frame of reference is your own memory.

The blame lies with a fiber-optic cable used to connect a GPS receiver, which corrects the timing of the neutrinos’ flight, and a computer card that reads the receiver. As part of the efforts to replicate the results, a team member apparently tightened the connection and then measured the length of time it took the timing data to travel down the fiber. The data showed up, you guessed it, 60 nanoseconds earlier than assumed.

DOH!

Oh well, at least it showed people were willing to accept relativity may be wrong.

That was the point, the faulty cable was not correcting the synchronised time between the the GPS and the reader.....hence the discrepancy.

However, it should be noted that this is a hypothesis at the moment....we have to wait for the official findings to be sure.

Make sense. :( Shame, think I like most people are hoping someone discovers a game changer so we can have flying cars :D Physics is moving to slow for me.

Did you guys even read the whole article? Lol

There are TWO errors the team are working on. One to do with cables, and another to do with the timing. One increases the 'seen' neutrino speed and the other reduces it. So they still don't know what the actual speed is and are preparing to do more test.

Deloren on standby ;)
