Did the Moon-men have a sense of humour?

I do have one question though out of curiosity given that we have landed on the moon previously is there a reason we haven't returned?

There has been no reason to return.
India and China have sent probes to take aerial pictures. Oh, and chucked their flags on the lunar surface to say tgey have been there.

One resource tge Moon has in abundance is Helium-3. It can be used in fusion reactions to make electricity. My guess is once nuclear fusion becomes viable alternative, there will be a race to tge Moon.

I still find it sad that a base was never established on the Moon.

Myth busters did a good show dealing with the shadows/camera "fake" theories.

And as special effects experts you have to admit that is thier area of expertiese

Question is : How do you know what is fact.

Did we land on the moon or didn't we? Unless you were actually there, who can say otherwise. I'm pretty certain we don't have any astronauts here on the forum to say either way.

Sure you see images and hear the stories but the more you think about it, the more parts of science sounds like a religion. You are told it is so , therefore it must be true and you are wrong and stupid if you don't believe it.

My personal belief? The moon is supposably our closest (and this would seem likely given the fact we can actually see it) and are told a relatively "calm" and solid planet as apposed to others discovered. So if scientists can land a probe on an asteroid flying at insanely high speeds, why have we not returned to the moon?

Well one of the great differences between science and religion is it gives you the tools to test it.

F=ma

Should tell you why its much easier to send a small unmanned probe to an asteroid than men to the moon

Was there ever a need to go?

Absolutely there was a need. Still is. Same reason that you climb a mountain, or cross an ocean. Because it's there

There is no strife, no prejudice, no national conflict in outer space as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation may never come again. But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?

We choose to go to the Moon...…we choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win.

we don't know but its very likely.
next few years are very exciting indeed.

moon express have also signed two rocket launches for 2017 to go to the moon and try and win lunar x-prize and part of the winning prizes are for filming apollo sites.

hopefully an f9 first stage will be re-launched sometime before the end of the year as well.

wow that soon? Any more info?

Really?

Nope... Next

Note: In image that is what you may expect earth to look like

"Expect earth to look like"? Do you mean in relation to the window? Why are you not considering all the variables? You're not considering a change in focal length. They didn't just have 1 lens and 1 camera right?

That image you posted is taken with an ultra wide angle lens, it's almost a 160° AOV lol. And if you knew anything about photography you would know that changing from a 10mm to a mere 50mm would have a huge effect on the AOV and therefore the relative size of the earth as projected on the film.

And it doesn't matter whether you're standing right next to the window or whether your on the opposite wall, if the focal length is always constant the earth will always appear to be projected the same size in the actual film/negatives.

I've already said I was wrong for the third time.

f9 core reluanch is mainly spread over elon and shotwells twitter.
but they were hoping to fly in liek june, it;s now by end of year.
as i said take his word on what he plans, just not his time lines.

other exciting things in next few years

Falcon heavy Launch in 2017, essentially 3 spaceX F9 first stages strapped together, will be the biggest rocket since saturn v.

SLS launch in 2019, will take over as the current largest rocket from falcon heavy.

spacex comercial crew to ISS with dragon V2 slated for 2017

Boeing cst100 commercial crew to ISS maybe 2017 although they;re currently a few months behind spaceX and liekly will slip further.

james web telescope (hubble replacement) slated for oct 2008 launch.

hopefully spacex first mars mission to prove supersonic retro-propulsion landing on mars in the 2018 window.

also likely to see blue origin open its space tourism doors in the next 2 years.
and maybe virgin galactic, but i have my money on blue origin launching well before virgin.

china has another moon rover i think at end of 2017.

Sweet. Wish I could keep up with it all, I'll have to take alook around and do some subscribing.

I love to go up into the atmosphere, literal dream come true

We did land on the moon but I do know a lot of shots were in fact faked. Its been proven by many many video and photography experts. This was likely done for propaganda purposes.

Whenever I see Buzz Aldrin he seems a nice enough guy. He also believes he saw Aliens but of course he is a crackpot low intelligence nutter who happens to have multiple degrees

Buzz Aldrin was considered probably the smartest of the astronauts - far from having low intelligence - his specially was orbital rendezvous, in fact all the astronauts had high IQ levels - the lowest was 130 which is in the top 2.5%, the mean in the top 1% - it seems you haven't actually a clue what you are talking about!
