Diesel Tuning

I stand corrected then ;)

I personally would make the assumption that mileage kills fuel pumps more frequently than short journeys.. But let's not argue ey :D

my golf is on 212k miles. its a 1995 car. it will have done every jouney you can imagine and its on the original pump

god only knows what kills fuel pumps

The same thing that kills other components in cars - sods law :)

definately. random things can die at random times

my alt decided to die (or its voltage reg did) about a month ago. it served flawlessly for 211k miles then the battery light flickered on one night.

one of those things that make you love and hate cars so much

I actually believe you are on to something.

Last week I drove 400 miles including going to a meet down Winchester way and then a holiday on the south coast. I use to car ALL week everyday I must have started it at least 5 times a day where I was going out and about. It drove back flawlessly. On the Saturday, I decide to go out and pay some bills, jump in the car and drive off to the bank. I do my duties and jump back in the car and for the life of me I could not start it because of the fuel pump jamming. What a sod. I'm just waiting on a sender unit sealing ring and I'm pulling the tank out. Sods law indeed.

I believe they actually wait till you least want them to break.

Several of my past cars have started playing up a week before I was getting rid of them. My Alfa decided to wait until I had a date with a girl who, frankly, was waaay out of my league to have a flat battery after being parked for 2 hours :(

Im friendly with the MD of DTUK, he sells these boxes for your engine all the time and to my knowledge never had any comebacks with issues from the clutch etc.

As for the question on the sport button, im pretty sure that they are a power increas all the time. Wheras there is also a "green box" option that gives you better fuel effeciency on normal power then increases the power when pressing the button mate.

Any other questions mate, id suggest joining the astra owners net work, the MD of DTUK also runs that forum!
