Diet coke

I drink both and can switch between the two as required (to balance my sugar intake) and to be honest I reckon I now prefer the taste of Coke Zero over sugared coke.

My wife has drank diet coke for years and says she cannot stand the sugared stuff. Its the same with coffee: I used to drink coffee with sugar and now I cannot stand it with even half a spoon full in.

Oh and the diatribe about fizzy drinks being bad is old and a tad boring. Yes fizzy drinks (especially sugared) are bad for you in large quantities but then again so is water. Life is about balance and to be honest I'd rather enjoy a soft drink or two rather than live an extra day or so!

If I was to drink one it'd be coke zero, although I think coke zero and diet coke are the same apart from zero being advertised at men, if you're trying to lose weight then I'd reccomend switching but also cutting back and drinking water too.

What's the point of drinking diet coke to be healthy, if you want healthy stop drinking it, if you don't drink normal coke.

What's the point of adding excess sugar to your diet when many find coke zero/diet tastes the same or better than the original.

It would seem tat according to some posters here on OCUK fizzy drinks give you AIDS (the bad kind) or cancer or the ****s or all three.

Drink water and eat lettuce and you'll live to 110.

Yes, synthetic sweetners are worse, at least invariably anyway. One of the worst is 'Aspartame' - I wouldn't consume if I were you..
Afaik 'tis banned in some countries, Australia for a start. The best natural sugar that I advise people to take in is called 'Xylitol'. Unfortunately it isn't in many foods at all yet, it would make the complete product of food or drink too expensive.

Why wouldn't you consume it?

Diet Coke > Coke

Tastes MUCH better.

Yup, i can't stand that sugar clinging to my teeth feel in my mouth, its just nasty, you can feel your teeth in trouble when you drink sugary drinks.

Aspartame might not be great for you, but its certainly not killing you instantly or any time soon in low doses. I have no issue with it and couldn't care less about the scaremoungering as thats all it is. a few people have health issues and desperately blame anything they can and to the internet they go.

Zero just tastes very similar to normal coke, they've obviously replaced sugar with something else that grips onto your teeth and makes them feel like crap :p

Fact is whatever you drink most, becomes what feels normal to drink and whatever else you drink will taste, not normal and therefore normally worse to you also.

Thats why its so hard to stop drinking coke(not including caffeine dependancy) because coke is what i'm used to it feels refreshing, water feels different and not normal to me yet but I'm getting used to it, still love the odd glass of coke though.

I don't consume it becuase it tastes bitter and leaves a terrible aftertaste. Seriously, I can tell if something is sweeted with aspartame as the taste is so revolting. I like real sugar. This is also why I buy Ribena, and not just about any other squash as they are all sweetened with sweeteners and they leave a terrible aftertaste. Some folk don't seem to notice it though.

Really you should stay away from any carbonated drinks.

Yep, stay away from the sun too, it causes skin cancer. And don't go near roads, as there are dangerous cars on them.

In fact, don't breathe the air as it contains a background count of radiation.

Don't you have any taste buds? Diet coke and coke zero taste very different.

Eh? I'm sure they're the same product, just in different bottles and as such, marketed differently.

Coke itself is a very poor Cola IMO. It has no flavour! If you look hard enough in the supermarket you can find dozens of alternatve colas, most of which are 1000% more tastier than Coke. Barrs Cola in the Glass bottle is an alright start, but there are some realy nice 'exotic' ones out there as well.

Original Coke > Original Pepsi > Diet Pepsi > Diet Coke.

IMO.

But I only drink water anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.

Also, if you guys don't like sugar clinging to your teeth, don't ever try that syrupy stuff in france. It's basically the same stuff as coke, but instead of coke syrup and water, it's fruit or mint syrup with water, but at a much greater concentration. Something like 85% sugar in a whole cup of it (including water).

Ribena contains no artificial sweetners? At least in concentrate. It has a phenominal amount of calories due to it's massive sugar content, though.
