Diet coke

Not having a go but don't any of you brush your teeth and/or use mouthwash?

I don't see the problem with carbonated drinks on your teeth as long as you keep good regular dental hygiene.

It would seem tat according to some posters here on OCUK fizzy drinks give you AIDS (the bad kind) or cancer or the ****s or all three.

Drink water and eat lettuce and you'll live to 110.

I thought fizzy drinks have been linked to gullet cancer?

Eh? I'm sure they're the same product, just in different bottles and as such, marketed differently.

They are different, There's a different taste to them. Apparently Zero is supposed to be closer to the original taste of coke. But I think none of the 3 taste alike personally

I think most people brush in the morning and at night rather than after every swig of coke.

Well obviously you don't have to brush several times a day. :p

I just think that if you brush regularly then I doubt carbonated drinks would do any harm to teeth.

It contains aspartme

Ok? a hugely biased source there but ok..

Its been found safe for consumption as a sweetener by the US FDA, the EU and the WHO. You would have to drink 20+ cans a day to get above the daily recommended allowance.

You may well believe it to be unhealthy and id agree...but as unhealthy as sugar? I dont think so.

Ribena contains no artificial sweetners? At least in concentrate. It has a phenominal amount of calories due to it's massive sugar content, though.

Special R contain sweeteners. Special R tastes like crap. Regluar Ribena doesn't have any added sugar, it's natural fructose and stuff from the fruit that's used to make it. I have no concern over calorie counts. It's expensive enough that I only buy it when it's on offer which is every few months.

Brushing after a swig of Coke is one of the worst times someone could brush. Coke is essentially acid. (carbonated anything, is acid) So what someone would be doing is brushing and rubbing acid into their teeth. The best time to drink carbonated drinks if one must, is to do it at meal times, the bodies natural saliva etc helps to protect the mouth.

They were selling detox so probably was a bit biased lol but googling aspartame does show up various health issues despite being approved by the government and various food agencies.

If you're happy drinking normal coke I suppose worrying about the contents of diet coke is of little interest. I don't drink carbonated drinks so it's not real issue for me.
