Difference Between Raptors

Hi there.

Apart from price & apperance what is the difference between these two 300GB VecoiRaptors?

One has the ice box, one doesnt

Cooling is a lot better for a start, and it stops a lot of vibrations ithink , plus the added bonus of the looks.
If I was getting a raptor I would definetly get it with the icebox

The icebox reduces vibrations slightly, but adds to the amount of noise the drive makes considerably. SilentPCReview describes the drive as having a

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality disorder

in that it is considerably worse in the icebox. Your best bet for a drive like this would be to buy it without the icebox (might as well save the money) and bungee suspend it.

I thought it was called the "icebox" because it acts as a massive heatsink.

So they are identical in performance? Also, when you say 'bungee suspend' what do you mean? Can I not just put the Raptor without the ice box in the regular Antec 1200 drive bay?

The VecoiRaptors are 2.5" drives. The ice box acts as a heatsink and also as a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter.

Also, if you get the 3.5" drive and remove the Icepack, you void the warranty.
