Difference in music CD formats for UK and US?

Hello

Selling some music CDs on a well known auction site and a buyer has asked me if this UK CD will play in a US player.

I know there are issues with DVDs (ie region 1 & 2 and PAL and NTSC), but wasn't aware of any issues on music CDs.

Anyone confirm?

Unfortunately it won't. The US uses the music format CDS which is a slight variation on the standard CD format. You won't be able to sell it abroad.

All my import CDs work just fine and I've played stuff in US players :/

Well, I should have specified really. It depends on the state you are in. Some use the older format, some use the new (standard UK format). You might want to find out what state he's in, as there is a possibility you could sell it, but obviously he could live in a state which still uses the CDS format.
 
hokay, can i get clarification (except from carzy) that there should be no problems with UK music CDs playing in the US?
