Are there any articles looking at the pro's or cons of the different types of water block materials?
Whilst researching, Im seeing Copper, nickel plexi, copper acetal, Nickel Acetal, pure nickel, all with massive differences in price - I know the EK blocks are popular, but Im wondering if there is a particular combination of materials that performs best, as I have read that pure copper is best, so why the others (which sometimes cost more)

Hope Im not opening a can of worms here

All of the block you mention are made of copper. When it mentions nickel it means is has a thin nickel plating, even the pure nickel one you mention. When it mentions acetal/plexi, that is what the top is made off, i.e. plastic. THe only difference between these blocks is looks, performance will be the same.

Basically, copper acetal is for n00bs and nickel plexi is win :p:D

But seriously, there's no/minimal difference between any of them. Purley aesthetics

I meant for nickel, and depending on the build, pure nickel can look awesome, like in my build I plan to use all silver bitspower fittings, and I think all nickel blocks, fittings and a white case with orange coolant and fans will look awesome :D

No. nickel plexi ONLY!

Metal tops tend to marginally (~0.5C) be better than plastic tops.

Your argument doesn't work. Plexi looks better :D:p

So the plexi love on here is a fashion rather than performance thing.
Im going to look for copper with a plexi top unless the Raystorm performance charts refuse to let me buy anything else and I go for that..

Cheers for the replies guys
