Different speeds on the same network?

Hi guys,

Bit of a strange one this.

My son and I are both connected to the same router via separate Ethernet cables.

My motherboard is newer of a higher spec and the machine is superior to his in every way.

When I do a speedcheck however.

He consistently gets around 180 MB of our 200 MB bandwidth.
Yet I only get around 90MB?

What could be causing this?

Thanks

What speed does your computer report the connection speed as?

As Benny has said, it could be that your card either isn't Gigabit or its somehow being limited to 100Mbit in the settings for the card somewhere.

Hi guys,

It seems okay this morning?

In answer to your questions though, I am using the on board Ethernet socket of my Steamroller x99 motherboard and I was getting 1GB showing as the throughput on the status panel.

All a bit odd. However, thanks for your help gents and apologies if I have wasted your time which it appears I may have done
